👀Can you see the fence?

4 Years ago we ripped out the 50+ year old, 5-strand, traditional barb wire pasture fence in favor of a “grazing system” with more smaller pastures partitioned off using single strand electric fence. The existing 8 large pastures were cross-fenced into 20 smaller pastures, each 15 acres or less.

A single strand of wire keeps the cows in🤯
At the time, this was a B I G deal for us.
Why?

It represented breaking from “how it’s always been done,” taking a risk on trying something new.

What did that one change make possible?

✔️Ability to "stockpile & strip graze" through most of the winter instead of feeding hay
✔️Smaller pastures = even grazing = healthier plants with deeper roots
✔️One person can move the herd
✔️ Calmer cattle
✔️ Improved pasture fertility because cattle are grazing (and pooping) more evenly across the land
✔️Ability to rest pastures promotes thicker grass stand = more feed available for grazing
The land is our biggest asset and also a limiting factor to our growth. Healthy land is more productive land, yielding more nutritious grass leading to cattle gaining weight faster and being harvested sooner, which is better for our bottom line and your dinner plate.

Customer Review Spotlight

I'm 70 years old, have several serious and overlapping "comorbidities" which have taken me several years to improve on with vitamin/mineral supplements & nutraceuticals.

Then my doctor told me I was mildly anemic and needed to supplement with iron, so decided to do it naturally with beef heart and liver. I'll try pork parts next. Maximum nutrition wise, I make my own bone broth and refine my own tallow and lard and try to get grass-fed for both bones & fats because of superior nutritional profiles.

My first order included oxtail. I'd never made it before, and it turned out just superb as oxtail and barley soup.  The beef heart I ordered then was fantastic, done in a pressure cooker. - Cindra, Willard
