Support for the Vulnerable
______________________

The rising cost of living is hitting households in our Fitche community hard. The situation is even much more harder for the elderly who have no family and/or a steady income. To demonstrate our solidarity with these vulnerable members of our community, we (FICDO) distributed wheat flour, pasta and cooking oil worth 25,000 birr to forty elderlies on April 1.

In the week starting April 17, we distributed wheat and teff flour, pasta, cooking oil and clothing worth 166,965 birr to 135 elderlies and vulnerable members of our community just in time for Easter, which was celebrated in Ethiopia on 24th of April.

Local Authorities Visited FICDO
______________________

Representatives from social affairs, and women and children affairs bureaus, Kebele administrators, and local party officials visited our projects on April 20.  They spoke to our children and volunteers.  Encouraged by what they have witnessed, they promised to continue to support our projects in all aspects.
We are grateful for their sustained support.  Kudos to FICDO's local leaders for fostering fruitful relationship with all stakeholders.

Easter Celebration
_______________________

As has been the custom in the past years, we have celebrated Easter on the 24th of April along with members of our community.  This year, we have had guests from United States, Norway and Addis Ababa.  Members of our community contributed from cash to festive food for the day.  It was a fun day for all.  As usual, meals were packed for the elderly in our Soul-2-Soul project, who could not attend in person due to old age and illnesses.

We are grateful for everyone who made the day successful and memorable.

A New Addition FICDO's Core Team
_______________________

We are delighted to announce that Matyas Debele Feyisa has joined, on a volunteer basis, FICDO’s Core Team with the responsibility of providing  leadership oversight and direction to our Environmental Initiative.  Matyas holds postgraduate degrees in Project Planning & Management as well as Environmental Engineering.  He has also several years of experience with a number of non-profit organizations, including in leadership positions both overseas and in Ethiopia.  Matyas is also instrumental in organizing annual tree planting initiatives for several years. His passion for people and the environment also led him to partner with a number of green initiatives by local NGOs.
Matiyas is married to Hawine Debela and is a father of a daughter and a son.  We are excited to have Matyas in our leadership team.
Thank you!

We are deeply touched and also inspired by the love and support from our friends and supporters.  Just this month, a friend and long-term supporter from Dublin donated 1000 Euro.  The monthly support from our trusted partner, Liffey Valley Vineyard Dublin and private donors from Ireland, Switzerland, USA, Addis Ababa and Fitche are also ongoing.  Our supporter from Norway donated towards our humanitarian cause.  A thoughtful Eritrean grandmother, based in Dublin, donated generously towards the cost of "coffee" for the elderlies in our Soul-2-Soul project (coffee is cherished in Ethiopia and Eritrea).  Dr Daniel and Tsedey Deresse from Canada are giving their valuable time and expertise to develop a five-year Strategic Road Map for FICDO. Matyas Debele has been actively mobilizing our community on social media groups, and his efforts are bearing fruit.  Tewdros from Addis Ababa donated his expertise and time to build our website, which we will unveil in the next two weeks.  Members of our community in Fitche have donated cash, in kind and their valuable time.  Above all, we know that many of you are praying for us. We appreciate all your support.  Thank you and may God bless you abundantly!
Want to make a difference in peoples' lives?
_______________________
You can be part of our exciting projects and make a real difference in peoples' lives.  Just twenty euro a month can transform a child's life by covering the cost of meals and other expenses required to keep the child in school for a month.  Twelve Euro a month can provide life-saving meals for a month for an elderly with no family.  You can also empower a young girl/woman by supporting her get skills training or start a small business.  You can contribute ideas, support us with your expertise and prayers. There is a lot we can do together.  You can call us or give a one-off donation through the GoFundMe campaign that we created last year for our Education Program.  To learn more, please contact us at fikirintegratedcdo@gmail.com.  Thank you.
