If…Then

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV®)
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Like me, you may have been with a group when you were asked to say this verse aloud. We feel sincere earnestness, and see it in the faces around us. But how often have we taken the “If … then” of God’s promise to heart? How often have we actually done the things that will bring God’s forgiveness and blessing—humbling ourselves, praying, seeking His face, and turning from our ungodliness? How often have we prayed those things for other people but thought we were exempt from the need for humility and repentance? It is time to allow the Holy Spirit to peel off those hardened layers and soften our hearts toward the Lord. It is time for us to be more concerned about repenting than trying to hide our sin. It is time for us to be more interested in pursuing the things of God than the things of this world.

THINK ABOUT IT
Collective spiritual renewal begins in the repentant heart of each Christ-follower—resulting in forgiveness, healing, and blessing. If you have held a casual attitude toward repentance, humble yourself before the Lord, and truly seek Him with your entire being. He will hear from Heaven.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, the repentance You require is to sincerely turn away from unholy behavior, renounce it, and release myself from it. Thank You for then hearing my voice in Heaven and releasing Your forgiveness and healing into my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Blessings,
