"One of the marvelous things about community is that it enables us to welcome and help people in a way we couldn't as individuals."

The strength, progress, and development of our community depends on the compassionate hearts and hard work of Skagitonians. I am grateful, every day, for the opportunity to work with people who care and those that serve causes in our community that matter. Whether it is individuals and families who are creating their legacy, or a volunteer who writes a grant application for a small local nonprofit, we are honored to support the many forms of generosity here in Skagit County.
In April, the Skagit Community Foundation's Board of Directors approved $506,587 in grants to 60 local nonprofit organizations serving the Skagit community. The average grant award amount was $8,500. This year's grant cycle was the most competitive grantmaking process to date, with requests totaling more than $1.3 million from 109 applications.
Each annual grant cycle process is made possible by Donor Established Funds at the Community Foundation. This year, we were grateful to have the participation from 10 Donor Advisors who made grant recommendations from their Donor-Advised Funds, making up $222,400 of the total grant awards.
It takes a community to support our local nonprofit partners that are advancing their important missions, and the Skagit Community Foundation thanks you for your interest and investment into their work. To view the full list of recipient organizations and to learn more about them, please visit our 2022 Grant Awards page on our website.
If you would like to learn more about Establishing a Fund or participating in our grantmaking process, please reach out to us - we would love to hear from you!
