MILLER CREEK SPOTLIGHT
Last Wednesday Miller Creek Middle School's Track and Field competed in the first Area track meet since 2019.
Can Do! is so proud to be able to fund ALL after school sports with your support.
We look forward to seeing them run in the County Meet on 5/6/22.
VALLECITO SPOTLIGHT
From Can Do! Funded Specialist, Ms. Sandy, and the Vallecito Garden
Classes were lined up and waiting their turn to help out in the garden. Students helped mulch, rake, or weed to help beautify the garden. They all seemed to love it and were very enthusiastic.
Love the cooperation and teamwork!
Can Do! is recruiting new board members for next school year!

RED BOY PIZZA & LAS GALLINAS LIONS CLUB
50 YEARS IN THE BUSINESS AND
WITH A SIGNATURE SOURDOUGH CRUST
Established in 1969, Red Boy Pizza began as a single, 90-square-foot location in San Francisco, California. Founders Peter and Kitty Forstner owned and operated the business for more than 35 years featuring only the finest ingredients, including a true San Francisco Sourdough Crust. Peter named the restaurant Red Boy Pizza after a drawing he had created as a young boy in his native Germany, the original Red Boy.
Today, though Peter and Kitty have retired, Red Boy Pizza remains a family-owned business. Each pizza is hand-crafted to perfection, providing the kind of quality and attention to freshness you can only find here in the San Francisco Bay Area.
From our dough to sauces and toppings, to our pastas and desserts, Red Boy Pizza uses only the freshest ingredients. The foundation of each pizza remains the sourdough crust, the mother dough of which was originally brought in 1918. Red Boy Pizza sauce is produced from fresh, hand-picked, California tomatoes, never concentrate! Combined with the finest herbs, spices, and other special ingredients, Red Boy Pizza produces the highest quality pizza you will ever taste.
There are now seven Red Boy Pizza restaurants in Marin, Sonoma, and Alameda counties, with more opening soon. Most Red Boy Pizza Restaurants are both dine in and take out and offer free delivery to select areas. We encourage you to visit the location nearest you and experience the best pizza, pasta, and Italian salads that only our dedicated Red Boy family can offer.
A big thank you to Red Boy Pizza Novato for their support of Can Do!
The Las Gallinas Lions Club was founded in March 1980 by local resident Les Mize. Les had been a Mill Valley Lion since 1965. The 44 charter members comprised local, community minded individuals who embraced the Lion’s motto, “WE SERVE.” Les Mize became our first club president.
Our name, Las Gallinas, was selected by the charter members to reflect the geographical valley running from Puerto Suello Hill in the south to the southern limits of Novato.
Our first community projects were resurrecting the annual Marinwood Easter Egg Hunt and starting a Halloween Parade and Costume Contest for neighborhood children. This established our long-standing commitment to our neighborhood’s young people. As we continued to grow, our club added many community activities and programs. We also raised money by conducting parking services for the Marin County Fair. This money continues to be returned to the community in the form of assistance grants for local groups and Lions International programs.
HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF HOW WE ARE SERVING OUR COMMUNITIES.
-
Raising money for local schools and sports organizations
-
Hosting the Annual Marinwood Easter Egg Hunt (2019 was our 40th year)
-
Purchasing and planting bulbs throughout our community.
-
Organizing free Vision Clinics for children in our community using a “Pediavision” vision camera.
-
Sponsoring eyeglasses and eye surgery for several people in need.
-
Supporting Lions in Sight (recycling used eyeglasses to people in need):
-
Collected hundreds of eyeglasses and sorted several thousand.
-
Worked with students from Miller Creek Middle School to wash and clean over 4000 pairs of eyeglasses.
-
Seven of our members joined Lions in Sight missions to Mexico this year to dispense eyeglasses to over two thousand needy people.
A big thank you to the Las Gallinas Lion's club for their support of Can Do!
