Soldaat van Oranje

Last week I had a chance to attend Soldaat van Oranje, a musical production of national renown. It is based on the true story of resistance hero, Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema. He wrote a book about his experiences during World War II in the 1970s.

The musical premiered on 30 October 2010, in a theatre that was purpose-built for the production, the TheaterHangaar. It is an old hangar, situated on the former Valkenburg air base in Katwijk.

It was an impressive performance with beautiful songs, vintage costumes and great sets. The 3-hour musical brought together talented actors who provided the audience with some comedy, romance and a little suspense. It was an evening well spent. Curious about this musical? COVID-19 Updates

Since 23 March the government has eased most of COVID-19 measures (more details here). This means, the basic rules no longer apply in the Netherlands. However, a number of measures to limit the spread of the virus are still in place. Find the brief list here.

Are you planning to travel abroad? Check the applicable rules here

Follow weekly updates on COVID-19 on the RIVM website. Anyone who experiences coronavirus (mild) symptoms can be tested by appointment. It is possible to get a test even if you have no symptoms but are at increased risk; for instance, if you get a notification from the CoronaMelder app. Call 0800 1202 (08:00-20:00) to make an appointment or do it online. Municipal Health Authority GGD Haaglanden opened a corona test site at the Bieslandsekade 68 in Delft. Other test locations are in Nootdorp, Den Haag, Naaldwijk and Leidschendam. Find more information on testing on the GGD Haaglanden website (in Dutch) or the government website (in English). Steffie provides details of COVID-19 in an interactive way.

COVID-19 Vaccine

Stay well informed about vaccination to make a good decision for yourself, your family, friends and vulnerable people in your surroundings. Everyone aged between 5-11 in the Netherlands got invited for vaccination against COVID-19. The total number of vaccines that have been administered can be checked from here.

Already got vaccinated? Get your coronavirus entry pass with the CoronaCheck app and check the validity of your entry pass. Want to get a vaccine but has not registered yet? Just visit the nearest walk-in center. Learn more about the vaccination and its related aspects here.

To increase protection against the Omicron variant, everyone aged 18 and over is invited to receive a booster vaccination. Make your appointment online or just come right away without appointment; check the nearest location and opening time here. In Delft you can go to:

  • Voetbalvereniging Delfia (Mozartlaan 664), Wednesdays & Thursdays, 10:00 - 14:00
  • Delft municipality office building (Delft station, Stationsplein 1A), Tuesdays, 12:00 - 17:00.
