Shine a Light!
I'm writing to invite you to join with Bay Area LGBTQ-inclusive spiritual communities in shining a light of love, support and connection this Pride season.
After two years off due to the pandemic, the Parade is on and United in Spirit is organizing our annual San Francisco Pride Parade contingent, a Referrals booth at the Pride Celebration and the "We are #UnitedinSpirit" Pride Campaign. These opportunities will help shine a light on your congregation and help the LGBTQ+ community connect with affirming congregations, ministries and spiritual support.

Parade Contingent
Sunday June 26, 2022
 The United in Spirit Pride Parade contingent is a volunteer-coordinated collective demonstration of LGBTQ-affirming congregations, as well as supportive clergy and people of faith from throughout Northern California. We have celebrated our LGBTQ+ community in San Francisco Pride for more than twenty-five years.
WHY MARCH? You get to meet really interesting folks from your own and other traditions and witness to God's inclusive love while extending your congregation's welcome to the queer community.

Pride Celebration
Inclusive Congregations Referrals Booth
Saturday and Sunday, June 25-26, 2022
Rita Goldberger is coordinating our LGBTQ-Inclusive Congregations Referrals booth at the San Francisco Pride Celebration at Civic Center. This booth is a wonderful way for folks to learn about your congregation at no cost to you.
The Referrals booth offers information from many of the local congregations and religious groups which welcome and affirm LGBTQ+ people. We also help those traveling here from out of the area connect with national organizations whose websites list congregations all over the country. We ask congregations provide literature and/or volunteers to help staff the Referrals booth and answer people's questions.
The booth will be in operation in the festival area on Saturday & Sunday, June 29-30, 2010, 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Volunteers who want to help staff the Referrals booth can come by at any time, for any length of time, during festival hours. You can drop off informational materials at the booth any time after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, or on Sunday, after 8:30 a.m.

Many Traditions
#UnitedinSpirit
United in Spirit has launched the We are #UnitedinSpirit Pride Campaign to help members of the LGBTQ community find safe and supportive spiritual community.
This campaign asks inclusive congregations to host specially-designated LGBTQ+ religious services and/or related events during Pride season. Each group determines what constitutes such a service. The goal is to connect with the LGBTQ+ community and welcome those seeking spiritual community.
United in Spirit hosts a list of inclusive congregations on our website and we will also be listing special Pride religious services and events so that the LGBTQ+ community and the San Francisco Bay Area may know that there are congregations, synagogues, mosques, and related religious organizations which welcome and affirm LGBTQ+ people.
Our last campaign included fifteen religious groups and dozens of services and events from many different traditions. By joining together in this united effort, we hope to extend the welcome and expand our reach beyond what any group could achieve separately.

Subscribing to this newsletter for the easiest way to get updates on the parade contingent line-up and day of parade info. Please forward this email and invite folks who might be interested in participating to subscribe to our email list — I keep emails to a minimum (about 5 or so a year).

Donate
More than $2,500 in financial contributions are needed each year to cover Pride parade registration, insurance and vehicle rental fees. (We are still in process of arranging for a cable car or an alternative for this year's parade). We are asking participating individuals, churches, associations, presbyteries and conferences to join with us in supporting this all-volunteer effort. Joining together is not only more fun, it saves time and money.
CONTRIBUTIONS ARE TAX-DEDUCTIBLE
Your gift supports the efforts of United in Spirit to connect inclusive congregations with the LGBTQ-community. Your donations are tax-deductible, safe, and secure. United in Spirit is considered an interfaith project of Dignity/SF which is a 501(c)(3) religious nonprofit organization. Any excess of funds go for next year's expenses.
