- Update from PAC
Advance (Early) Voting Underway, Absentees Accepted Via Mail, Drop Box or Hand Delivery
Early voting begins on Monday, May 2, and will continue through Friday, May 20, 2022
Absentee ballot voting now requires voter I.D., either on file with the Athens/Clarke County Board of Elections (via your Driver's Licence and existing registration), or by presenting your voter I.D. while turning in the ballot, or dropping in an interior and secured dropbox location.
Accepted forms of identification are the same as in-person voting and the earlier Georgia Voter I.D. statute passed in 2005. Photos of valid I.D. may also be uploaded along with your Absentee Ballot request, or copied and mailed in to the Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections.
Absentee ballots returned by mail must be in the mail 11-days prior to Election Day to assure delivery. WE RECOMMEND either mailing your ballot by May 10, 2022, dropping it off in person, or placing it in a secure dropbox.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR CANVASSING -
At our May 2, 2022, General Membership meeting we will select one of two days of Saturday voting for door-to-door canvassing in select commission districts and precincts.
We plan two shifts and probably three canvassing teams, working four hours each on either Saturday, May 7, or Saturday, May 14. We will offer voters assistance in getting to the polls for early voting, Absentee ballot applications, and information on candidates endorsed or supported by Athens Classic, Inc.
EVERY VOTE COUNTS -
There are hotly contested primary contests for Governor and U.S. Senator on the top of the Republican Primary ballot. The nominations for Governor and U.S. Senator are not being contested on the Democratic Primary ballot.
All Athens area local elections, excluding State Representative/State Senate contests are nonpartisan and will appear on both Primary ballots.
Most expectations are that voter turnout will be low to moderate in the 25-35 percent range statewide, and much lower in municipalities and counties without spirited contests.
EVERY VOTE as a result will have a greater impact, particularly in the Athens/Clarke County Commission District races, which are expected to be decided by only a few hundred votes.
The deadline for new voter registration has passed. NOW is the time for identifying and turning out our voters.
If you cannot attend our next meeting, for assistance please call Athens Classic, Inc. at 706-253-1348.
