Happy Sunday, Boston, it’s Kenneal with The Boston Calendar. We’ve finally made it to May, which means we’ve got dozens of exciting late-spring experiences coming up in the month ahead. Soak up the sunshine and the 60-degree days this week, and say hello to the new month.

Seaport Sweat: FREE Outdoor Fitness Series

Seaport Sweat, Boston’s greatest free outdoor fitness series, is back and better than ever. This year, the outdoor classes will be offered every week until September 29. All levels of experience are welcome, and you’ll have the opportunity to explore everything from Zumba to pilates fusion to yoga sculpt. You can get your heart pumping and your body moving on the beautiful lawns of Seaport, surrounded by fellow Bostonians ready to take on the day.

The Lawn On D Opening Day

When The Lawn On D opened in 2014, it was an immediate hit. There’s nothing better than a lively outdoor event space, especially with snazzy drinks, live music, games for all ages, and the fan-favorite light-up swings. Now, The Lawn on D is returning for the 2022 season, and it’s back with a bang. The Seaport venue reopens on Cinco de Mayo, and they’re promising quite the fiesta (which includes margarita samples). Starting Thursday, The Lawn On D will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

This Sunday, treat your mom to something nice without worrying about the cost catching up to you. You should always remind your loved ones how much they mean to you, but sometimes it’s about show rather than tell. Take your dear mum on a city exploration this weekend. Wander around fun markets like Hello Open Market in Somerville or a popup at the Speedway. Stroll through the Arboretum’s “museum of trees” and smell fresh lilacs blooming at Lilac Sunday. You could even consider taking a drive to see lanterns light up at the Scituate Lighthouse for the special day. Or check out SoWa Open Market, start gardening together, celebrate Derby Day at Hub Hall, and so much more.
