CEGADigital Credit Observatory Data Privacy RFP (June 22, 2022)

CEGA is pleased to announce the 2022 Digital Credit Observatory (DCO) Data Privacy Request for Proposals, with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The DCO has $500k to allocate towards data privacy research over the next three years, which we anticipate using to fund a total of 6-10 projects. This RFP is focused on funding original research on questions related to data privacy in low- and middle-income countries. We are interested in technical proposals that explore the potential for privacy enhancing technologies (PETs), as well as theoretical and qualitative work that seeks to better understand concerns regarding data privacy and/or possible ways to enhance data privacy protections in LMICs.For more information and to apply, see here.

About Global Networks

Investing in local research talent can catalyze evidence-driven policy change around the world.

CEGA’s Global Networks program invests in research capacity building that empowers LMIC scholars to become knowledge-generators in their home countries and regions. Through semester-long fellowships at UC Berkeley, scholars audit development economics courses, present their work at seminars, apply to competitive funding opportunities, receive faculty and peer mentorship, and network with faculty and students across the CEGA network. In addition, the Global Networks team organizes conferences to disseminate locally-generated research, connects fellows with policy makers and other partners, and hosts events for LMIC scholars to deliver and receive feedback on working papers. Global Networks also offers opportunities for LMIC scholars to engage remotely, including the CEGA Global Workshop and the CEGA Non-Resident Fellowship.
