Change is good

Together with our new home, you will have probably noticed that we have a new name and a new logo. We have retired the name 'Coronation 50 Plus Recreation Centre' since we moved to MacBain including an increase in age requirement. The new age requirement, 60 plus is consistent with other older adult services that are offered by the City.

It has been a great two months and we are still adjusting to our new space. One member in particular certainly is enjoying himself at MacBain which was captured by Niagara This Week when a reporter came to visit the MacBain Community Centre and met member Gord Wylie. Read the article here. We are glad you are having such an awesome time Gord and keep up the good work!

We still have our dedicated space to look forward to upstairs and when completed most of our programs will happen here. We are excited that we can finally call this space 'home'. More details to follow as and when we receive them.

And finally, we have some more great news in the fact we are launching a brand new program called 'Davinci Stick' with Tom and also an evening TRX and Yoga. We are also introducing a well structured watercolour class with a professional instructor. Hold onto your hats folks, we are just getting started.

With this type of yoga, you move your body slowly and deliberately into different poses that challenge your strength and flexibility, while at the same time focusing on relaxation and mindfulness. Taught by our resident expert Renee.

This class has taken off and is proving to be one of our most popular classes.

Davinci Stick Class
The Davinci Stick was Inspired by Davinci's Vitruvian Man to increase flexibility, enhance core strength and stimulate all parts of the body.

The Davinci Stick uses your body's natural shape and motion to increase flexibility, enhance core strength and stimulate all parts of your body. The stick is designed to help you successfully navigate the changing stressors on the body. By helping you overcome limitations and supporting in stretching, strengthening, and rehabilitating the body, the Davinci Stic will allow you to continue to move well and feel confident in your body.

There is barely an exercise you can't do with the Davinci stick. You can work on lower leg muscles, back, arms, shoulders, balance and posture and rotational mobility, and fires up the core. Let's not forget about your obliques. Many people are so focused on working on the front of their abs, they forget to train all the muscles that make up the core.

The Davinci Stick will stretch you, strengthen you, and heal you. It will help you achieve balance, and better posture
. This is also great for Golfers to get into shape to help with your swing.

Watercolour Instruction
I have had the absolute pleasure of meeting professional Watercolour Instructor Janice Opie. I am delighted to announce that Janice is going to teach Watercolours to our members. Class starts on May 24 for four weeks. Each week you will complete a watercolour painting. See the paintings below that you will complete. Beginners are welcome.

  More details will be coming soon including a list of materials, cost and registration date.
