Senator Costa Announces $1.5 Million for Swissvale Library Renovation!

We are delighted to announce some exciting news from Senator Jay Costa's office! The historic Carnegie Free Library of Swissvale will receive $1.5 million to rehabilitate the library, including improvements to the original building and construction of a new 2-story addition that will house an elevator, stairway, along with an entrance plaza – all ADA compliant. Computer Tutor - Thursdays from 11 am to 2 pm: Starting March 10, you may sign up for a 30 minutes session to get help with using and navigating your device! Creative Journaling & Meditation Group - Saturdays @ 2pm. Come together to explore creative journaling prompts and practice mindful meditation in a group setting. Journaling is a great way to relieve stress, regulate emotions, and maintain a sense of self through difficult times. Sign up to attend and receive a journal to use. Learn how to build & program a 'Dog' robot!
Saturday mornings 9:30-12:30 from March 19th to April 30th
The Swissvale Library hosts a FIRST LEGO League for middle-school aged kids to think like robotic scientists and engineers. During the spring season our team will attempt to build a working replica of the BostonDynamics’ robot dog. For students in grades 5th through 8th. Interested? Learn more here.

New STEAM and Pre-K Take Home kits will be available to pick up Monday April 11 - PreK: Make a Maraca! Make a musical instrument from simple materials and make some noise! STEAM kit: Everything that makes a noise is vibrating in some way. Check it out with these experiments, and make some noise of your own!

Anime Club Wednesdays at 5pm - Join us this Wednesday at 5pm in the Library Basement to make buttons showing off your favorite character, your motto, or anything else you can draw. We'll also watch a couple more episodes of Ranking of Kings, where we get to meet the deaf prince's family, for better or worse. See you there!

Summer Music Live at the Library!
We’re so excited that Beethoven is coming to the Swissvale Library! As part of The Library Project, a quartet of the Pittsburgh Symphony will perform at Swissvale Library on Tuesday, June 21st at 5:30 PM. Tickets are free but need to be reserved. Walk-ups are welcome but available seating is not guaranteed. Click here to reserve your seat.
