The 'How to Date with Passion and Purpose' course with Fire Up Ministries comes to a close! 35 young adults have concluded the 6 week program on how to navigate the modern dating world and are equipped with skills and tools of discernment in the area of relationships and Theology of the Body. Thank you to Simon Carrington and all our participants for coming on the journey.

On Friday the 29th of April, Broken Bay officially launched their 2023 World Youth Day pilgrimage to Lisbon, Portugal! Over 300 young people, youth leaders and clergy gathered and enjoyed a Portuguese-style dinner and games, while posing for photos with ‘Pope Francis at the photobooth, before Bishop Anthony Randazzo’s official pilgrimage launch. Praisefest: WYD Launch was hosted by Catholic Youth Broken Bay, the ‘Glorious’ team (a Broken Bay community of creatives) and a host of volunteers. Thank you to everyone who came and made the night a great success. We look forward to many more Praisefests to come!
“I am inviting you to come to World Youth Day in Lisbon, Portugal with me next year, my first World Youth Day!” - Bishop Anthony Randazzo

The pilgrimage will begin in Venice and journey through various Italian cities and towns including Padua, Bologna, Florence, Siena, Assisi and Rome, before flying over to Lisbon, Portugal for the World Youth Day week with Pope Francis. Following WYD23, pilgrims will travel to Fatima for a retreat before returning home.

The new World Youth Day logo for Broken Bay’s Pilgrimage has four key elements: a crown, representing Mary, the Mother of our Church; water, represented by the three curves and around which the Diocese of Broken Bay is surrounded, and also representative of our three Deaneries;  as well as the Cross and Eucharist; and a church window, looking out to the world. WYD Portugal’s theme, “Mary arose and went with haste” (Lk 1.39), was presented by Bishop Anthony during a time of Adoration. In his catechesis, he reflected on Mary’s pilgrimage to visit her cousin Elizabeth, one that would have been filled with many joys and many sufferings.

WYD Panama pilgrim, Ivica Covic testified that, "before World Youth Day, I would describe my relationship with Jesus as being sort of forced upon me… But one of the graces that came out of it was that I developed a deeply personal relationship with Jesus, to a point where I can speak to Him on a personal level and feel His presence and know that He is there.” Monica Reyes shares how she was inspired by the young, joy-filled Catholics she met at WYD Panama, “One of the things that’s really special about being Catholic is that we believe in the communion of saints... At WYD, you get a real sense of just how many people that is. It is incredibly inspiring!:
