Invest In Our Planet!

It’s never too late to join hands to build a healthy planet for our children and their children. As a Platinum Scenic City, let’s take the steps today, April 22 on Earth Day, to do our part and save our planet by planting more trees, picking up trash, employing reusable water bottles/shopping bags, recycling and more. For tips on how to invest in our planet, visit www.earthday.org.

As part of this global awareness, the City, in partnership with Texas Master Naturalist Program and Houston Audubon, hosted an event at the Buffalo Run Park, 1122 Buffalo Run Blvd., where they introduced the pollinator pocket project and planted seeds. The park has been the home of a pollinator garden since 2012.

Emergency Preparation Supplies Tax-Free Weekend

In an effort to improve emergency response times and enhance service to residents, the Missouri City Police Department has begun live-streaming 911 emergency calls directly to officers in the field, in real time. This new technology, called Live911, allows officers to hear the caller’s actual words and voice, providing a sense of urgency, details that might not be shared otherwise, and immediate updates on the situation. The officer not only hears the incoming emergency, but also can see the caller’s location on a map, providing a head start to first responders by eliminating inherent dispatching delays. MCPD is the first police agency in Texas to use the technology. Click Here

Tired of Sitting in Traffic?

Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to share their feedback on the Mobility & ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) Master Plan, which will make recommendations for various modes of transportation, technology, and policy guidelines to provide for future mobility, safety, and transportation efficiency.

Staff is calling for all local experts who travel through the City daily to tell us where the current gaps are in the transportation networks and to share those key inputs such as where more sidewalks are needed; where traffic signal timing could use adjustment; and more by using the following tools:

  • Dropping a pin on the interactive map or leaving a comment

  • Taking a five-minute survey

  • Sharing mobility priorities by budgeting for the future

To provide details and to further engage residents, MCTX hosted several community meetings around the City. The last meeting is on April 26. See details on below flyer.

Redistricting: Just the Facts

In February, the City announced plans to redraw the four City Council districts. The redrawing of districts was not proposed by the Council; it is required by law.

The City sought to provide information on the redistricting process and gather resident feedback. In an effort to achieve its objectives, the City posted redistricting information on the website and held five virtual meetings, an in-person community meeting, and three public hearings on the subject. The City publicized these informational sessions on its social media outlets and electronic display boards, as well as through e-mail blasts, news releases, the biweekly MCTXPress Digital Newsletter, and the biweekly MCTV “In the News” broadcast. City Attorney E. Joyce Iyamu has also attended several homeowners’ association (HOA) meetings throughout the City.

The following list of frequently asked questions is presented in hopes that residents and other stakeholders find it helpful in explaining the process.

What is redistricting?

According to the Texas Comptroller’s website, redistricting is the process of redrawing electoral district boundaries for voter representation.

Has the City Council voted on a Redistricting Plan?

Yes. The City Council voted to adopt Redistricting Map C Revised on April 4, 2022. The map will be considered again on Monday, May 2, 2022, at the City Council’s regular meeting.

I love where I live. Will redistricting change my neighborhood?

No, redistricting will not change your neighborhood. Redistricting will not change the physical location of your property, your zip code, nor your county.
