REMEMBER: never perform updates directly, we do all of that for you :)

NEWS

  • Back in January, we announced our business name change to UpStage Technologies. While we still maintain Venture Industries Online and Drew McManus LLC, we can provide an updated copy of our W9 with the new primary business name.
  • While the name changed, the more important piece of information is our Federal EIN Tax-ID Number did not change.
  • We do recommend our users check with their accountants and/or finance team to confirm if you need a copy of our W9 and if so, let us know. We can get a copy to you ASAP.

Seating Charts

We've been neck deep in building out seating charts for new users and the process is far more than just taking a copy of the PDF layout and making it digital.

At UpStage, we turn each individual seat into a data container that clients use to assign all sorts of attributes. It all begins with taking something like a PDF file and creating a cleaner version that will become the source template.
This is a design file our Frontend Engineers use to create the digital copy. Our UX designer creates the digital source file (left) based on the what the client provides.

In addition to row and seat numbers, we need to include exits and accessibility seating at this stage.
When creating the maps, Frontend Engineers designate Areas and Sections. At this step,
  1. Areas are something like "Main Floor" and "Balcony."
  2. Sections are groups of seats inside an Area, like "Left," "Center," and "Right."

These are used by ticket buyers to help find their preferred seats. The Engineers also create the thresholds that determine a seat's proximity to the stage so clients never need to play guessing game when creating maps.
When the Frontend Engineers have completed creating the seat map, clients can begin assigning Seat Preferences and assigning Ticket Types to any grouping of seats they desire.

Clients can select seats one at a time or left-click drag groups of seats at a time. All of the Ticket Type data gets embedded into the seat and since you can assign multiple ticket types to a single seat, it's easy to see how individual seats become powerful, and flexible, data containers that hold all of the information needing to create tickets and offer any combination of pricing and seat characteristics clients need.
