Dear 8th Grade Families,

It's hard to believe the end of the school year is already here. We want to make sure you are well informed about our upcoming events. Please read this email very carefully as it contains many important details.

You are invited to attend our annual talent show which will be held in the Worship Center. You may attend in person or watch from home on the CCS YouTube channel.

Beach Day - Thurs, May 19
We will be taking all of our middle school students to Newport Beach for the day. We will need parent drivers for this field trip. We will depart from Calvary around 8:30am and return by 3p. (Parents may stay for the day or just drop off and pick up.) We will have normal school drop off and pick up. Girls should wear one piece, modest bathing suits and all shorts should follow free dress guidelines (no more than 3" above the knee). Students should bring a sack lunch and water bottle along with a towel and sunscreen. All of the Middle School teachers will be accompanying the students. Please complete your student's permission slip to go on this field trip and return by Friday, May 13th.

  • The Middle School Awards Assembly will be on Friday, May 20 at 11:15a in Samsvick Chapel. You will be contacted if your student is receiving an award and invited to attend in person. Disneyland Day - Tues, May 24
For those students going to Disneyland, drop off and pick will take place at the Harbor entrance to Disneyland. Feel free to carpool as you feel comfortable doing so. Mrs. Hagerott, Mrs. Boyce, and Miss Porter are the chaperones for the day. Please complete and return your child's permission slip by Friday, May 13th. You will be billed $40 to your FACTS account to cover the cost of lunch and dinner which the teachers will order for the students. Student will make their meal choices when they arrive at the park. Not all venues in the park accept cash. Your child may use the Disneyland app on their phone/iPod set up with a credit/debit card for purchases or a Disney gift card.

Brunch and Graduation - Wed, May 25
It is our tradition to host a special brunch on the last day of school. While the 8th graders are rehearsing for graduation, the 6th and 7th graders will help set up the tables and decorations before serving brunch to the 8th graders. This event is for students only. Some of the 7th grade parents and our staff will help set up and serve. It is a NOON DISMISSAL day. Please plan to return promptly at 6pm for graduation.

Graduation attire:

  • Students should be dressed nicely - boys: collared shirt and pants (no shorts); girls: dress, skirt, or dress pants.
  • Students may NOT wear jeans of any color.
  • Dresses and skirts should follow free dress guidelines (no more than 3" above the knee).
  • Dress shoes are preferred. If tennis shoes are worn, they must be clean and neat.
Students will be wearing graduation robes which they will be given when they arrive. (Robes are new and custom ordered for each student's height.) We will have a couple of photo spots available in the courtyard that you may use prior to 6p or after the graduation ceremony. Students should go directly into the Worship Center at 6p and doors will open for guests at 6:30p.

We are looking forward to celebrating with you in the days ahead. I am praying for each of our students, that they may finish strong and continue to honor the Lord at each of these upcoming events. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Blessings,

Mr. David Seidman
