Parent Input for 2022-2023 Class Lists

The planning process for the 2022 - 2023 school year has begun! This is a lengthy process, and one we take very seriously. There are many factors we consider as we develop our schedule and class lists. We work with your child’s current teachers as well as specialists (reading specialist, differentiation specialists, resource teachers, and art, music, and PE staff) to create class lists conducive to learning.  We take into account your child’s academic, social, and emotional needs. Our goal is also to create equitable classes in terms of size, instructional support, gender, etc.

As our partners, we welcome you to share your perspective on your child’s placement for the coming school year. Providing this information about your child is optional. If you choose to share your input, please utilize this form, as it is our official way to collect this important information from you.

If your child will not be attending Elm School next year, please also indicate that on the survey. If you wish to share your perspective, please complete the form by April 22, 2023.

NWEA MAP Assessment

The spring administration of Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) for 2nd-5th grade students and MAP for Primary Grades (MPG) for 1st grade students is upon us. Student reports will be sent home once the window closes for the entire district.

Our District uses the data from this assessment in a variety of ways. In the classroom, it provides teachers with a means for monitoring student growth in reading and mathematics over time. At the District and building levels, MAP data helps us set goals and evaluate initiatives. Finally, in conjunction with other criteria, MAP scores may be considered when providing intervention, and in course placement decisions.

The Elm School Spring NWEA Administration Schedule is as follows:

1st Grade: Apr 25, 2022 and Apr 28, 2022

2nd Grade: Apr 26, 2022 and Apr 29, 2022

3rd Grade: May 2, 2022 and May 5, 2022

4th Grade: May 3, 2022 and May 5, 2022

5th Grade: May 3, 2022 and May 5, 2022

A student who is well-rested, well-fed, and has a positive attitude about assessment is best prepared for testing. You can help your child do his or her best by considering these tips:

  • Make sure that your child is in school and on time on test days.

  • Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast before each day of testing.

  • Remind your child that this assessment is only one measure. Emphasize that you have confidence in his or her ability to do the best job possible.

  • Remind your child to listen to the directions and read each question carefully during testing.

  • On May 11th your child will come to the library to select a new book to donate.

  • Your child’s name and photograph will be put in the front of the book.

  • Your child’s name will be added to the library catalog so that one can search by donor name.
