Dear CCT Members & Supporters,

Welcome to the April edition of the CCT Newsletter.

This has been a particularly busy time for CCT with the implementation of our plans on Culbokie Green. This is taking shape as I write this with the installation of the various items of play equipment and associated infrastructure. We hope that the wildflower seed mix will be sown on site shortly and this will allow it to establish over the summer. We look forward to seeing how the site develops and blooms. As part of this work we are running a two day training course on Living Willow Structures and more details are below.

Work on the shelter building, which will be called Am Fasgadh, is continuing off site and we are working to fix a date for the 'raising' of this structure on site. We will give details on this in due course.

I hope you enjoy the newsletter.

Best wishes

Living Willow Structures Training Course

The Living Willow Structures training course in Culbokie that was due to take place in April had to be postponed – and as a result there are a few places still available. The course is now over the weekend of 7th and 8th May. Please let us know if you want to learn this fantastic craft and help make a fabulous play feature in the village. Places are FREE – and ideally you should be able to come from 10am to 4pm on both days. Message us if you'd like a place. The picture below shows what we hope to create.
The Black Isle Photographic Competition

The annual Black Isle Photo Competition is back for 2022. The theme, My Beautiful Black Isle, offers lots of possibilities for your own interpretation. There will be cash prizes for the best photo in each entry category, sponsored respectively by Culbokie Inn, Culbokie Store Ltd and ARK Estates (Scotland Ltd.)

  • Best photograph (using a mobile phone)
  • Best photograph (using any device, by young person aged 13 and under)
The competition, with the closing date of Thursday June 30th, is open to everyone, regardless of age, equipment, or level of experience in photography.

History Report

Discovered tucked away in a Scrapbook were cuttings and press photographs relating to the Culbokie WRI and these are now available for viewing under the “Social History/ Community Activities section. Given the well-kent faces it was felt that there must be a wealth of further material tucked away in various homes around the Village. This proved to be the case and the full history of the Group from 1957 to its closure in 2005 came to light and is available online.

You can keep up to date by accessing “History recent additions.”
As always we would welcome any additional material to expand the coverage of our history and contact can be made through history@culbokiect.org.
