Congratulations to the latest student here at O'Brien Guitars, Drew Boyd from Ohio. Drew has built several guitars with me over the years and each time he comes to build with me is a new and exciting opportunity to do something different. This time he sent in some beautiful Turkish Walnut from Luthiers Mercantile International. I had never worked with this wood and it did not disappoint! This particular set had some coloring that really enhanced the beauty! It bent easily and was wonderful to work with. Under a French polished shellac finish you can really see the grain pop.
