Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic School is thrilled to be getting a new playground and construction is almost complete! During our Open House on Sunday, August 7th, this new set will be blessed, and then our lower elementary students will get the first chance to test out the new equipment.  Also during Open House, a hot dog lunch will be served and Middle school (5th - 8th) students and their families will compete in a volleyball match in the gym with the Lady Mariner team!
A very special THANK YOU to the following contributors that made this playground possible:
Coastline Trailers & all our Mariner families and supporters of our H.S.A. fundraisers.
The Aviles Family for donating all their hard work and expertise this summer helping to construct the playground!
NEW to OLG!!!
Student Council 2022-2023

Its an OLG Historical Moment! 🇺🇸
Middle School students elected last spring by their peers had their first organization meetings with Ms. Biggs, their sponsor, for the new OLG Student Council.  Ms. Biggs has over 20 years experience of being a Student Council sponsor with the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC).
"A student council is a group of student leaders who work with an adult advisor to collaborate with others to impact their school community, which impacts their city or town, which impacts our state, which impacts our country, which changes the world." Definition created by 2008-09 TASC State Officers and District Presidents
Congratulations to the following students spearheading this new organization for our school!
Katie C. - Secretary; Stella N. - Treasurer; Olivia H. - Historian
The election for President, by the middle school students, will be held at the beginning of the school year.   Candidates Arturo A, Haleigh G, and Cayson S. will each give a speech to provide their vision and strengths to support this leadership position.  Going forward, the OLG Student Council will also have a "work-on program" where middle school students can participate in projects to earn their way onto council in addition to being elected by their peers.

Let us join together in asking our patroness, the Virgin Mary, Mother of God, to watch over our students as they begin a new school year.

The Memorare Prayer

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.
