MESSAGE FROM PASTOR DAN

May days are here and these are wonderful times in the life of the church as we celebrate our Easter season and look forward to the power of God's Spirit at Pentecost.  In the month of May we will honor Mother's Day with a special gift and once again a fun give-away on that day, May 8th. We want to remind everyone that we are enjoying our Communion Sundays with a variety of our liturgies (1st and 3rd Sunday each month). On the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Sundays we will worship with our contemporary service.  We encourage you to invite others to share in the Joy that we have in our faith community.

At the end of the month, Sunday, May 29th you are invited to join others in re-entering the worship center for quiet prayer.  The setting is one of solitude with music, candles, and personal time for prayer.

As we move forward at Spirit of Joy we are beginning to utilize usher teams, and altar guild, and readers.  We will move back to our traditional communion (and continue to offer the pre-packaged communion to those who prefer it at this time).  Ushers will also be back to following their weekly responsibilities in worship.

Our live stream has been a wonderful success story in the midst of the pandemic.  We will continue this ministry permanently for those who need to be able to worship at home.  It has been far reaching across the United States as our faith community grows beyond our doors.

We look forward to our leadership and the plans they are putting together for our summer and fall ministry schedule.

Blessings to you all,

Pastor Dan

Social Ministry

In light of the pandemic and the effects it has on our congregation and the community, we have put a hold on any large scale God's Work, Our Hands Events.  Instead, each month, the social ministry task force will highlight a different organization in the newsletter for you to check out and prayerfully consider sharing your gifts of time or treasure.  Some of the organizations will be local, others might be international.  There is no shortage of need in the world, and we are all called to do our part.

Open Door Meals

Spirit of Joy will be serving an Open Door Meal at the Grange on Monday, May 9th, 2022 at 6:00 p.m.  The Youth Group will be preparing and serving the meal, but there is always a need for extra hands to serve and clean up.  You will be home by 7:30 p.m.  This is a great opportunity to minister to those in our community. Please see Randi-Kate if you can help out.

Women's Bible Study

Calling all women of the congregation!  The Women's bible study completed its first five-week session on Rahab. It was a resounding success. The study mixes bible study with praise music, prayer requests, and a lively discussion.  Our next five-week session will focus on The Prodigal Son. We will meet at 530 p.m. on the following Mondays:  Apr.25, May 2, May 9, May 23, and May 30.  Don't worry if you missed the first session on Rahab... this is a whole new study.  The meetings are an hour, so you will be on your way home before it gets dark!

The study book is available to purchase on Amazon, but you don't need to buy the book to participate. We can make copies of the lessons.
