14th Annual Sustainable Santa Monica Student Poster Contest Winners!

All winners will be honored in a ceremony at the Annenberg Community Beach House Wednesday, May 11th!

Congratulations to our John Adams Middle School winners and participants of the 14th Annual Sustainable Santa Monica Student Poster Contest. This year's theme, “Do Your Part, Be Water Smart,” educated students on the importance of water conservation and inspired them to use art to express their ideas while raising awareness about the drought. The contest was open to all kindergarten through 12th grade students who live and/or attend school in Santa Monica. This year’s contest educated over 1,160 students in 33 virtual or video presentations at public and private schools in Santa Monica, resulting in 600 poster submissions. John Adams Middle School swept the middle school category! The winner’s posters are currently on display at JAMS and will remain from April 26th until May 6th.

Attendance & what to do if your child is absent or leaving early:

ABSENCES
All absences and tardies must be excused by parents or guardians. Parents may report absences via the JAMS website (click on the "Find It Fast" button at the top right and then select "Report an Absence"; or click here) or by leaving a detailed phone message at 310-452-2326 x72201. Please be sure to provide your child's name, ID number or birthdate, date of absences and a detailed reason for the absence.

LEAVING EARLY
Please let us know first thing in the morning if your child will be leaving school early. You may either fill out the online "Report an Absence" form or write a note and have your child deliver it to the Attendance Office before the start of school. The note should contain your child's name, the date/time they will be leaving school early, the reason for leaving early and a phone number where the parent can be reached for verification. If your child is leaving early on a Tuesday, please allow an additional 10 minutes for them to complete their Covid testing before leaving campus.

Absences that are not cleared within 72 hours will be recorded as truant. For more information on attendance policies, please visit the JAMS website or refer to SMMUSD's Attendance FAQ page.
