Fun Fact

May Day (1 May) celebrates workers’ struggles and protests to win the 8-hour working day. But those demands were based on the calculation: 8 hours sleep; 8 hours work; 8 hours leisure, which requires someone else (historically women) to undertake all domestic labour. With the increase of women in the paid work force, there is a new push for a 6-hour working day.
