From the Head of School

Dear Gardner community,

Teachers are the heart of our community. They not only provide academic and arts instruction to our students, but they lovingly create welcoming, creative, and inclusive classrooms for children in our community to thrive, grow, and love learning. I invite you to join me in celebrating and thanking our teachers this week for Teacher Appreciation Week. Please read below to see a variety of ways that you can show appreciation to our fantastic teachers and treat them to cards, flowers, and kind words. I also want to share my appreciation to the many teachers in our community - parents, grandparents, and community members. If you are a teacher, please know that the incredible work you do every day is appreciated.

It was absolutely lovely to see so many supportive people at our Gala last weekend! What a turn out - and we raised vital funds for our school through generous donations at our Art Auction and Paddle Raise. These funds will go toward continued facilities improvements for upgrading our indoor classroom spaces and outdoor play spaces, professional development opportunities for our staff to continue to grow and learn, and investing in the long term planning for our school. If you weren't able to join us but still want to give, we have an exciting $5,000 match this week to double your donation! I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to every community member that makes up our school the vibrant, supportive, and creative place that it is.

Enjoy your day,
Teacher Appreciation Week May 2nd- 6th

Celebrating our teachers this week, we have some special treats and activities planned! If you can volunteer some time this week, check out this sign up for times to help.

Our virtual PTO meeting is happening this Wednesday at 9:30 am on Zoom. Email ptochair@gardnerschool.org for the link!

Notes of Appreciation
All Week Long!

The blank card is for your child to draw/color/write on to create a card of appreciation for one of their teachers.  The card with the flower on the front is for your family to write a note to your child’s teacher to say how much you appreciate them.  Write the name of the teacher the card is for on each envelope so they are sure to make it to the right person!

A Unique Bouquet
Wednesday, 5/4

Each child can bring 2 flowers (garden-picked, store-bought, or handmade) to school to add one flower to their homeroom teacher’s vase and one to one of their specialist’s vases (feel free to bring extras for other specialists, too). Once all the flowers are collected, the bouquets will be delivered to their teachers. Flowers will be collected during drop off.

Learning in Action
Our 2nd graders completed the same STEM challenge Gala participants got to do, creating marshmallow poppers. They tested out their creations with enthusiasm! Problem solving with scientific methods and materials allow our students to think creatively, work together, and find success through trial and error.

Giving Gala 2022

A Chance to Double Your Gift!
At our paddle raise last weekend, Gala guests raised their paddles and met our goal to get a $5,000 match!

Thanks to a generous parent donor, we offer the opportunity to our greater community to have their gift count double. We have a second $5,000 match challenge! Between today and May 9th, every dollar given will be matched up to $5,000.

Double your donation by giving to the Gardner School today!

Parent Connections

Gardner Parent Book Club
The Gardner School Parent Book Club is new at our school, but we hope families find this opportunity to be a valuable and helpful way to connect with other parents while learning more about their children and parenting.

This spring's selection is Brain-Body Parenting, by Dr. Mona Delahooke. In her book, she shares research on how parents can support their children in learning emotional regulation skills through a better understanding of the connection between a child's behaviors and a child's physiology.

We have one last in person meeting for the book club on Friday, June 3rd at 8:45 in the Farmhouse. Even if you haven't caught up on the reading, we invite you to come by for a chance to chat!

Stay tuned for the return of the Gardner Parent Book Club in the fall!

Campus snapshots

For Teacher Appreciation Week, we want to highlight some our fabulous staff! They bring care, joy, and talent to our classrooms and our students.

2. Has your child been in close contact with anyone with confirmed COVID-19 or has a public health or medical professional told your child to self isolate or self-quarantine because of concerns about COVID-19 infection?
