May 2022

It may be hard to believe, but summer is just around the corner! Here at the library, we’re busy planning events for this year’s theme, “Oceans of Possibilities.” But you don’t have to wait until summer to visit: we’ve got all kinds of events lined up this month, including a traveling exhibit, book sale, and craft swap.

Closings

The Library will be closed Friday, May 13 for staff in-service and Monday, May 30 for Memorial Day.

Starting with Sunday, May 29, the Library will be closed on Sundays for the summer. The Library will resume Sunday hours on September 11.

Immigrant Journeys from South of the Border ¡Mi travesía hasta Wisconsin!

We’re thrilled to be one of the statewide stops for the traveling exhibit Immigrant Journeys from South of the Border, created by Wisconsin Humanities. Stop by during May to learn more about these three women and five men who emigrated from Mexico, Uruguay, Honduras, and Colombia and who now live in Wisconsin.

Are you good at lifting boxes of books? Do you have some extra time on your hands? We’re looking for a few volunteers who would be willing to help set up the book sale, clean up any leftover books, or take money at the sale. If you’re interested, fill out our Volunteer Application and be sure to mention the May Book Sale.

Is your craft stash overflowing?

After a successful inaugural Craft Supply Swap in 2019, we’re finally doing it again! Anyone who drops off craft supplies ahead of time gets an “early bird ticket” that will grant you entrance to that magical first hour of the swap. Whether you bring in supplies or not, everyone is invited to come take something home during the general admission time slot.
