As part of the Government of Canada’s commitment to addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR), PHAC is pleased to release the 2021 Canadian Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance System (CARSS) report. This report includes data on priority AMR organisms and antimicrobial use in humans, animals and crops. The report relies on data and analysis from the Centre for Communicable Diseases and Infection Control, the Centre for Foodborne and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases, the National Microbiology Laboratory and the AMR Taskforce.

Key findings from the CARSS report are available as an infographic, and a public-facing interactive dashboard on human antimicrobial use has been launched.

In addition, the Public Health Agency of Canada, in collaboration with the National Collaborating Centre for Infectious Diseases and the National Collaborating Centre for Methods and Tools will be hosting a webinar: “The 2021 Canadian Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance System Report: Key Findings and Remaining Gaps” on April 28, 2022, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm Eastern Time. Click here or below to register for the event.

Any feedback on the report or questions can be directed to carss-scsra@phac-aspc.gc.ca.

Questions for the webinar speakers may also be sent in advance of the event to nccid@umanitoba.ca.
