Investment Attraction Fund

Expressions of Interest are still open for the Investment Attraction Fund (IAF) presenting an exciting opportunity for businesses looking to establish and grow their operations in WA. As well as access support and financial assistance of up to $5 million. Priority sectors include energy, primary industries, defence, space, health and medical life sciences, international education, tourism, events and creative industries, and mining equipment, technology and services. Deadline is 4 May 2022.

WA ASEAN Summit 2022
The first WA ASEAN Summit will be held in Perth at the Ritz Carlton from 29-31 May 2022. The Summit provides a chance for businesses and individuals to participate in a world class event that will showcase WA as open, innovative, and open for business. The event will provide numerous opportunities for networking and developing new and ongoing synergies, partnerships and collaborations  between government and businesses creating sustainable partnerships.

The Defence
Industry Hub WA
Interested in Defence and looking to enter or expand your footprint in the Defence Industry? The Office of Defence Industry Support (ODIS) is holding a special event at the Defence Industry Hub on Thursday, 5 May at the Belmont Racecourse. Hear from Defence industry leaders, key Defence contractors and business experts around key themes and topics, such as ODIS and Defence Readiness, support available to business, and opportunities in WA. The event will feature a range of speakers to include Government and industry representatives, and will provide ample time for networking with peers. This event is free but registration is essential.

Help for Business to Transition to Plastic Free
No Plastic
The single use plastics ban is an important step towards a more sustainable future for WA and beyond. Certain steps have already been taken to reduce such items from the environment. However, small businesses need to plan ahead for the impacts the ban on single-use plastic items will have on operations and now is time to think about what you can do to get your business ready. Help is available for small business including hospitality venues, cafes, bars, restaurants, markets and sporting arenas to transition to plastic free places ahead of the single-use plastics ban. The Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC) has useful information readily available to help businesses adapt to the change, as well as free business advisory services.

ScaleUp WA x DPIRD Adds Value to Food & Beverage Businesses
Are you looking to scale your business but unsure how? The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) is partnering with the City of Canning and Triangle Equity Partners to deliver ScaleUp WA, a purpose built program for emerging small or medium enterprises in the food and beverage value add sector with high growth potential. The program seeks to equip businesses with the know-how to develop the tools and resources that will help create and capture value and establish market and funding connections. Successful applicants will receive sponsorship of 50% of the delegate fee. There are a maximum of 6 sponsorship opportunities available. Application deadline is 5pm, 7 May 2022.

Expansion to Small Business Hardship Grants
The Small Business Hardship Grants Program has been expanded to help more local businesses. A new COVID-19 Business Assistance Package has been announced for WA businesses who have experienced a 50% decrease in business for any two-week period since 1 January 2022. The program will provide support to all eligible businesses that meet the criteria, including payroll tax relief for large hospitality providers to be available to more businesses.
