Welcome to our April Issue of SOL-DIURNA

Our first newsletter for the new year highlights some of the fantastic achievements the company has reached in the past few months and plans for where our vision will take us. From winning awards to creating breakthrough energy transitions to new pilot projects and opening up our offices with a remarkable improvement in the COVID-19 cases in Bangladesh, we have lots to share with our readers.

The year 2022 and our 3rd quarter started off with a bang as SOLshare was announced the winner of the Zayed Sustainability Prize 2022 in the category of energy.

SOLshare is the very first Bangladeshi company to have won this award and will reduce the impacts of climate change and eliminate energy injustice in Bangladesh expanding further into more off-grid communities.

Our heartiest gratitude and appreciation goes out to The Zayed Sustainability Prize team, His Highness Sheikh Muhammad Bin Zayed, the UAE Leadership for empowering SOLshare through this award, and our SOLshare team who made this award possible.

In partnership with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, SOLshare has launched a lighthouse project in one of the largest refugee camps in the world - the Rohingya Refugee Camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.

Young kids in the Rohingya Refugee Camp are enjoying a cool breeze thanks to their solar-powered fans, powered through SOLshare’s peer-to-peer grids in the camps.

Ensuring smooth operation with a lightning conductor that protects the grid and the community that resides within.

This project will link multiple solar energy generation and storage sources in the camp to form an energy exchange platform - the peer-to-peer microgrid. Through this project paired with SOLshare’s state-of-the-art energy management system, the refugees will have the opportunity to rebuild their lives through access to better education, healthcare provisions, and the opportunity to do more within their own communities - build social cohesion, create jobs, and scale up within the camps and host communities!

SOLshare now has two solar rooftop projects under its belt, with our recent project being a solar rooftop contract with Knit Concern. Knit Concern provides high-quality knit apparel to the international market and has been doing so for 3 decades. In the first phase, SOLshare will install 261kWp of solar PV rooftop, which will be followed by up to 2MW of rooftop solar installations across Knit Concerns premises.

We have exciting news under our e-mobility services - SOLshare in partnership with BAT Bangladesh, Btomorrow Ventures, BAT Global, and Rajshahi City Corporation launched a Smart Renewable Energy Pilot Project in the cleanest city of Bangladesh - Rajshahi under the Ministry of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources, Bangladesh, net-metering policy coupled with intelligent storage devices.

The ceremony hosted various esteemed guests, including the mayor or Rajshahi City Corporation - AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, the Chief Guest - Bangladesh Awami League presidium member. Mr. Shezad Munim, Managing Director BAT Bangladesh, Dr. Sebastian Groh, Managing Director SOLshare, Mr. Soriful Islam (Babu), Panel Mayor 1, Councilor, Ward-12, Rajshahi City Corporation were present as special guests. Dr. Lisa Smith, Managing Director of Btomorrow Ventures addressed the occasion via a dedicated video message.

SOLshare is now on the list of P4G's new partnerships that are driving energy transition in developing countries!

Through this partnership, SOLshare, in partnership with IDF is addressing the informal and fossil fuel-powered electric three-wheeler charging infrastructure in Bangladesh through Smart Charging for Green Rides.

SOLshare will expand electric three-wheeler adoption in Bangladesh by improving pay-as-you-go technology for batteries, making three-wheelers more sustainable, and helping to boost driver incomes by 25%, improving livelihoods for a Net Zero future.

SOLshare celebrated Women’s Day 2022 in a multitude of colors

Homayra completed her undergraduate in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Asia Pacific. She is a keen learner and loves to read when not working. In her free time, she also likes enjoying music.

Helal completed his BSC in CSE from IUBAT University and is a software assurance and test automation engineer by profession. Helal has work experience in software quality assurance, as a software developer, and ASP. Besides work, you will find him enjoying his free time watching movies or listening to his favorite artists.

Meet Isa Abrar, our new Director of Product and Business Development.

Abrar brings with him more than 10 years of experience in technology through his previous roles. Prior to SOLshare, he has led sBusiness.xyz (Sheba Platform Ltd), a B2B SAAS company, several large-scale ICT projects with Bikroy.com, worked with Samsung Electronics as a Product Manager for IT Products, and local esteemed conglomerate aamra Companies.

Palash is partially ACCA qualified from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants with previous work experience as an Accountant. He spends his time exploring the unknown and is keen on new knowledge, and loves watching sports, news and movies.

Saida has over 5 years of experience in financial analysis and planning. She is an admirer of new technologies and spends her leisure time looking at prototype gadgets on Indiegogo. She also loves to read and is a fan of Japanese Anime.
