Mt. Bethel Family,

We wanted to share some of the updates given at Sunday night’s Administrative Council meeting.

While there is no new information on litigation beyond the fact that there are currently no further dates set for hearing of motions, and unlikely to be any until Fall, there is a lot to celebrate about the exciting and vital ministry happening at Mt. Bethel. Here’s a summary of what Pastor Jonathan Lawson shared with the Council:
  • During Missions Week, we raised just over our $300K goal for various missions’ partners, which included $84K for the Ukrainian Relief.

  • Forty-fying Our Seniors – During the 40 days of Lent, we partnered with Congregation Etz Chaim to fully fund the MUST Ministries Senior Citizen food program for a full month and came together for two packing and delivery days, as well as children from both congregations writing notes to include in the boxes of food. This was featured in the Marietta Daily Journal, East Cobb Neighbor, and Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspapers.

  • Women’s Night of Encouragement was sold out (200+ women attended and 30 men volunteered).

  • Men’s Breakfast with Ralph Stokes had 150+ attendees.

  • Holy Week Attendance was strong:
                    Easter Walk – 450+, 55 volunteers
                    Mike Licona – 325+
Seder Meal – Sold out at 120 with another 20 volunteers.
This was featured on the front page of the Marietta Daily Journal
                    Easter Weekend edition.

Student Good Friday Service – 300 students
                    Tenebrae – 350+
  • For Easter worship services, we had 3,400 in person on the East Cobb campus, over 200 in person at the North campus, and over 1,300 online.

  • MB Connect has had 18 attendees since the beginning of the year and subsequently, we’ve had 15 adults join the church, most with children.

  • There are three mission trips planned for this year: Honduras, Romania, Bolivia (and more are in discussion.)

  • Our students led the way with the first “overseas” trip to Puerto Rico this month.

  • West Virginia mission teams and ERT trips have continued; we even recently hosted training for ERT in concert with UMCOR here at Mt. Bethel.

  • Our Children’s Ministry on Sunday mornings has grown so much, and so rapidly, we are in desperate need of adults to serve in Station34  (for 3 and 4-year-olds) and in KidCity to disciple the next generation in our faith. Please reach out to Jenny Thompson if you would like to help us on Sunday mornings and influence young Jesus followers.

  • Our Sunday Morning Welcome Team would like to grow its team to meet our increasing attendance numbers. We need Greeters, Ushers, and Parking Ushers. If you can give just a portion of your time to help out, please contact Jennifer Bruner.

  • We are now in our third session of the small group study “Supernatural”, which has led more than 115 people to lean into a life of deep prayer and openness to the move of the Holy Spirit in them and their lives.
God is moving and revival is taking place in our worship, in our serving, and in our making of disciples. There is so much to be excited about as we lead into Summer and look forward to the months ahead.

Please enjoy this short video recapping Holy Week and Easter!
