You can review the video presentations, relevant documents and answers to questions now on the Town Meeting website. For questions, email townmeeting@needhamma.gov. Shortly after Town Meeting concludes, the Town will shift to its annual Summer Hours. Be sure to mark your calendars now, especially if you normally visit the Recycling and Transfer Station Friday afternoons. During summer hours, the RTS is closed Fridays at noon. Beginning the week of May 23, 2022, Summer Hours will be effect in Town facilities. Check out the specifics here. | | | COVID-19 UpdateWhile many of us have begun to resume our pre-COVID activities, Needham Public Health urges residents, especially those at increased risk, to maintain proper precautions as COVID cases have sharply increased in Needham over the last two weeks. Residents who are unvaccinated, immunocompromised, or live with someone who is at higher risk, should consider wearing masks in crowded indoor spaces and maintain social distance. For information about current isolation and quarantine guidance, bookmark www.mass.gov/isol8. If you are showing any signs or symptoms of COVID or are a close contact, consider taking a rapid at-home test. Insurance companies are required to cover the cost of up to 8 at-home tests per month; information about how to get a test can be found on the Massachusetts DPH website. There are also a limited number of free rapid at-home COVID tests available directly from Needham Public Health. Please visit the Rosemary Recreation Complex during normal business hours to pick up a test. Please do not come and pick up a test kit if you are symptomatic or have recently tested positive for covid. If you want to report a positive at-home covid test you can do so on the Needham Public Health COVID page, which also has a link to COVID vaccination clinics at the Rosemary Recreation Complex. For other clinic sites, please check Vaxfinder. If you need help signing up for a COVID-19 vaccine (including booster shots) please call the state hotline at 2-1-1, or for in-home vaccinations, call (833) 983-0485. | | Hydrant Flushing Begins Overnight May 2 - June 15 | | Needham Public Works will begin its annual water main flushing overnight Monday, May 2nd and continuing during the overnight hours until Wednesday, June 15th. The purpose of water system flushing is to verify the safe operation of hydrants and valves; to remove accumulated sediment or mineral buildup in our water mains, to flush stale water from dead-end streets, restore or help maintain chlorine residual throughout the water system and continue maintaining a clean, safe water supply to customers. The water flushing may result in a temporary discoloration of the water, as well as possible reduction in water pressure. The water discoloration is not a health risk. The Water, Sewer & Drain Division recommends restricting your water usage during this period. The discolored water may stain your laundry, especially white materials as well as the possible staining of plumbing fixtures. Flushing will occur Mondays through Thursdays 11 pm to 7 am. |

| | Public Works Offering Summer Job Opportunities | The Department of Public Works (DPW) is pleased to offer entry level summer opportunities. The DPW supports a wide variety of activities and programs over the summer months, and it relies on motivated and hard-working summer help to ensure that the Town’s roads, parks, water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure, fleet, waste management, engineering, and buildings are all ready for the upcoming year. These jobs offer the opportunity to experience public service at its most fundamental level by providing insight into the workings of infrastructure maintenance. Those with an interest in construction, engineering, environmental science, public service, recycling, or trades work are strongly encouraged to apply for this opportunity. We encourage you to come and see Needham from a different perspective and be a part of our summer team! | |
