Research Opportunities in Algae Biotech and Sustainable Management of Water, Nutrients, and Energy

 

Water Energy Sustainability Training Team (WESTT) is a hand-on activity course is provided by the Sustainable Utilities Research and Education Program (https://ceenve.calpoly.edu/sure-program). Technical elective units may be available.

Who:   Freshmen through grad students from all engineering and science majors are welcome.

What:  Hands-on research on:
●       Algal and bacterial biotechnology
●       Wastewater resource recovery
●       Biofuels production
●       Anaerobic digestion

 

Why:
●       Valid for tech elective credits in most departments.
●       Valuable experience on resumes.
●       Try-out grad school-level research.
●       Contribute to sustainability projects sponsored by the US Department of Energy and the California Energy Commission.

My name is Jacob Schlottmann-McGonigle, and I am the Chair Elect for the University Union Advisory Board (UUAB) for the 2022-23 year. For the 2022–23 academic year, UUAB is recruiting representatives from the following colleges: College of Liberal Arts, College of Science & Mathematics, College of Engineering.  The University Union Advisory Board (UUAB) makes policy recommendations for ASI-managed facilities including the Cal Poly Recreation Center, Julian A. McPhee University Union, Cal Poly Sports Complex, Doerr Family Field, and Cal Poly P while working to maintain the integrity of the University Union student body fee.  Please share this opportunity with your club members and encourage them to apply if they are interested in serving on the UUAB.  Recruitment for UUAB membership is currently open until May 6.
