MEET OUR ECON ED TEAM

Name: David Bass
Title: Senior Regional Outreach Specialist
Years at the Fed: Almost three years
What do you like most about your job?
My favorite part of my job is being able to build relationships with educators and the public to connect them with the expertise and resources that we offer.
What is your favorite Richmond Fed resource or program and why?
My favorite Richmond Fed program is District Dialogues. This is a new public forum that allows members of the community to engage with local, regional and national experts on economic issues facing the Richmond Fed’s region and beyond. It also allows the Bank to showcase the research and work in communities that it is involved in beyond the Fed’s more well-known focus on monetary policy.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Modern architecture and design is a passion of mine. I live in a modernist home and collect mid-century modern furniture designs. I love cities and travel, visiting art museums and historic sites. I love everything RVA, especially the restaurant scene, and have always been active in my neighborhood civic associations. I enjoy television and movies. I have been a die-hard Star Trek fan since 1984, and in the last two years I have been doing CrossFit and Olympic weightlifting, which has been amazing.

What's a fun fact about you?
To make the most of the pandemic period and feel productive, I decided to take almost every weekend and travel to every city, town, historic site and natural wonder in the Commonwealth of Virginia I had not been to before. I realized that as much as I had traveled around the state, there had been so much I had never seen before. Although hard to choose, standouts included Natural Bridge, the D-Day Memorial in Bedford, the Air and Space Museum Annex at Dulles, Appomattox Court House and Chincoteague.
