Jessica Tye, Sonja Meiers, and Gayle Olsen presented a 90-minute workshop at the 2022 MACMH Conference on Child & Adolescent Mental Health. The educational presentation included background about substance use disorder (SUD), Phase 1 research results, and an introduction to our Phase 2 studies in development.
  • Over 140 individuals participated in the virtual workshop. This conference attracts a very diverse audience (approximately 37% educators, 30% mental health professionals, 14% social services, and 19% others [including family members, health care, corrections, and more]).
  • Approximately 90% of respondents to a live poll felt that their professional education had not adequately prepared them to help children, families, and caregivers impacted by SUD.

CPFHR was one of 11 non-profit organizations awarded a Spring 2022 Better Communities Grant by the Rochester Area Foundation, and one of 3 to receive the full amount requested.  The money will be used to train family peer specialists to assist families affected by SUD during difficult times. We hope to recruit diverse participants, to help improve access to services by under-served groups in our community.
