For peace in Ukraine and in every place on earth where people are threatened by aggression and intimidation; for refugees fleeing the violence of war may people the world overcome to their aid and provide welcome, safety, and protection; we pray.

For the sick and suffering, and for all who have requested our prayers, especially, Marie Ades, Jim Anderson, Barbara Baker, Florence Balog, Annette “Memere” Boucher, Kelli Calderwood, Dorothy Caruso, Mike Caruso, Judy Casey, Daniel CHOL, Jerry Deas, Gordon Dickey, Bev Gay, Edna Hicks, Bob Hughley, Gary Kasper, Carol Kelley, Mary Jo Lackoff, Rosemary Lyons, Chuck Maggio, Roger McLain, Jim Natseos, Linda Neace, Brian O’Neill, Marie Podlas, Leslie Prasch, Gabriel Royer, and Ruth Talbot; we pray.

For all the dead, who seek to dwell in the house of the Lord, especially Marie Therese Gass, Betty Wood, and Jerry Bitz; for those who have died due to COVID; for those who have died due to gun violence, may their names never be forgotten; we pray.

For peace in our world, in our city, and in our lives; for the prayers we hold in the silence of our hearts.  May they be lifted up with those of our patron, Andrew, and all the saints in the heavenly glory; we pray.

Confirmation 2022, Congratulations!
Thank you, Jane Salisbury, for your dedication, insights, and guidance!
Jane said, "My time on the Pastoral Council over the last few years, and during an earlier term, helped me to understand the workings of the parish, and the pressures that the staff and community experience.  I have been honored to support, in a small measure, the wonderful mission of the whole community of St. Andrew.  The Council has always been, no matter who is serving, a creative, kind and intentional group of wonderful people."

Portland Youth Call for Massive Multigenerational Mobilization

Adah Crandall (she/her), strike organizer and sophomore at Grant High School and St. Andrew parishioner, said:
“My generation is terrified for the future we stand to inherit. In the face of a catastrophic climate crisis, we are calling on our leaders to enact bold and radical changes before it is too late. Young people are powerful, but we cannot fight this fight alone. We need adults to go beyond calling youth activists ‘inspiring’- they must join this movement with us and do their part to protect our shared future.”

Details:  Join us on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at City Hall for a rally and then march to Revolution Hall, passing the offices of NW Natural (banners and flyers about the health and climate harms of fracked gas).  At Revolution Hall, there will be celebratory festival, trainings and opportunities to get more involved.
Be inspired, have fun!  Listen to this climate song.

How Electrification will Reshape the World

The End of the Petrostate - May 19th at 12 Noon PT

Join the Electrify Coalition as we explore the potential of renewable energy and electrification to reshape the global balance of power. We'll discuss the rapid pace of change in energy generation globally, and how ending our reliance on fossil fuels also reduces the corrupting power that comes to those who currently control limited energy resources.

We will be discussing this topic with Dr. Daniel Kammen, Distinguished Professor of Energy at the University of California, Berkeley, Co-Director of the Berkeley Institute of the Environment, and contributing author on multiple reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

Register here for this interesting discussion.
