WORSHIP AT ST. ANDREW’S
Sun. May 15 at 10 am in person
or Livestream (link here)

The lectionary readings for tomorrow are Psalm 67 and Acts 16: 9 – 15. Psalm 67, used in conjunction with the lesson from Acts 16, makes it clear that God’s intention for God’s people is for them to move beyond their comfort zones into unfamiliar territory, to see a larger vision as followers of the Way. Not only then, but now.

WELCOME TO TRADING TAPS
Sun. May 15 at worship

Trading Taps Dance Company is a percussive dance troupe based on the unceded land of the Coast Salish peoples, particularly the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh nations (also named Vancouver). Using rhythms from the cajon (a Latin American hand drum), Irish hard-shoe dance and a little tap dance, the troupe creates toe-tapping and eye-catching numbers. Trading Taps has performed at schools, pubs, the Dance Centre (Vancouver), and on the streets in Vancouver and Vancouver Island. Tomorrow morning you will experience this delightful dance company at morning worship!

PRINTED COPIES OF MAY NEWSLETTER

There are printed copies of our just-released May newsletter on the information table at the back of the Sanctuary. Focused on saving our beautiful planet earth, it is worth picking up (along with a map identifying the foliage and trees surrounding St. Andrew’s) so you can learn to love them. There’s a theological understanding that says you don’t save something that you don’t love, and that to love something you need to get to
know it.

HEARTFELT THANKS

Heartfelt thanks to the folks who assisted at Joan Crofts’ memorial service on Friday afternoon. The UCW were out in force—Phyllis McNeil, Pam Mitchell, Jeannie Holt, Gail Sokalski, Audrey Brown, Anette Bokic, Frances Bruce, Charleen Ross, and Dan McNeil (Dan is our honorary UCW member). They greeted guests in the Sanctuary, set up the Friendship Room with tables and chairs, served at the reception, and worked past 6 pm in the kitchen to clean up afterwards. What would we do without this amazing group of people?

THE TEDDY BEAR PICNIC
Sat. June 25 from 11 – 2

The volunteer sheets are up! And every Sunday, Rev. Judith will talk about the Teddy Bear Picnic (past and present) encouraging you to become involved in this fabulous event. Here are a few areas in which you can help—Teddy Bear Clinic, Beauty Parlour, Teddy Bear Scarf Boutique, Adoption Table, Cookie Decorating, Teddy Bear Crafts, Storytelling, Barbeque, advertising, set-up, clean-up. Do please sign up today! Only 42 days until the teddy bears have their picnic.

MINDFUL MOMENT

Compassion is a heart-to-heart encounter because compassion flows from the human heart; it is not a rational conclusion to a problem. Rather, it is an act of love beyond what the mind can comprehend. The heart therefore must be able to see what may be blind to the physical eye. Ilia Delio, O.S.F.
