Upcoming party, events and workdays.

Sundgren Sunset Loop Workday.  This month’s Third Thursday workday will be on the Sundgren Sunset Loop at 5:00 PM Thursday 19 May at the Big Bend OHV area.  Courtney and Steve knocked down the big whoops on this 1.1-mile singletrack so we will be doing general trail hand work.  CCMR will provide tools but feel free to bring your own.

National Trails Day Workday 4 June.  This is a joint workday with the Salida Mountain Trails mountain bike club.  CCMR volunteers will work on the Sand Gulch to Pot-O-Gold section.  The USFS requested this work to widen the section closest to Sands Gulch where people are coming off trail; this is a safety issue.  CCMR volunteers working with OHV crew members will build single log crib walls along this section.  The OHV crew will prep this site with materials.  CCMR volunteers with 4WD vehicles will also be needed to shuttle people and tools up CR108.  SMT will have trail crew leaders and trainers and a large crew that will work the section from CR108 to the SMT reroute (Seep).  SMT/CCMR work is within 1.2 miles of CR108 so shuttling tools shouldn't be required.  The plan is to have post-work lunch provided at the Little Rainbow TH parking.

Meeting Saturday, 4 June

Okay - work on the Rainbow Trail in the morning.  Thirsty?

Meet you at 5:30 PM at Bensons Tavern for a free cold one.  Renew your membership, get a new CCMR sticker, buy a T-shirt, and maybe win a prize.  We will also have items to auction.  Hope to see you there.
City of Salida Recreation - Touch a Truck Event. CCMR will have a booth at this event 21 May from 9:30am to 2:00PM at the Vandeveer Ranch.
Rainbow Trail Reroute Update.  We had a great workday on 16 April that far exceeded our expectations.  A special thanks to all 13 hard-working volunteers that attended.  We appreciate the help. Last week, the Mile High Youth Corps finished the chainsaw work on the 3.8-mile BLM segment.  With BLM, USFS, MHYC, and CCMR working, we are about 1.0 mile in on the USFS segment.  Trailcat plans to start the mechanical effort on 24 May.  Stay tuned for future post-mechanical workdays.

CCMR Trail Status.  Check out our Facebook Page for trail status.  For example, the Rainbow Trail is clear from Silver Creek to CR101.  Working on toward Kerr Gulch and Hayden Pass Road.  We try our best to update status.  If you clear a section marked “Not open”, let us know.  Thanks to the SRD OHV crew and CCMR volunteers clearing away.
Thank you - We had a good turnout for the first-ever CCMR Moonlight Pizza Day, 2 May.  Thanks Moonlight and to all that attended.
