Update #5 - May 2022

International Migration Review Forum 2022

In 2022, nearly four years after the adoption of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM), governments, stakeholders and the United Nations system will meet to discuss the successes and challenges of implementing this landmark cooperative framework. The first International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) is being held under the auspices of the General Assembly, chaired by the President of the General Assembly, at the UN Headquarters in New York from 17-20 May 2022.

Communications package

To support you in communicating on the IMRF, the UN Network on Migration Secretariat has drafted UN system-wide key messages for the IMRF, which we encourage you to use. The full communications package can be found here. This package includes all necessary communications assets, including templates, key messages, visuals, the “GCM voice” digital campaign guidance, social media messages and assets, and videos. It also includes a package for the Network’s exhibition “It’s only the end of the world” (16-20 May at UNHQ) on climate change and mobility.

GCM Voices campaign
This campaign should be viewed as an extension of the IMRF where those who may not be attending the conference can become a Global Compact for Migration Voice by sharing their opinions and experiences publicly and enhancing dialogue on successes, challenges and pledges. The goal of the campaign is not only to contribute to the discourse at the IMRF in the lead up to, during and after the event, but also influence it by increasing and amplifying online content that reflects real-life experience, the like of which is too often drowned out online by anti-migrant rhetoric. All assets, posts, templates are available here.
Interview Booth at UNHQ

The UN Network on Migration Secretariat is pleased to invite all participants in the first IMRF to take part in the Interview Booth on Day 3 (Thursday 19 May) and 4 (Friday 20 May) of the Forum, located in the Visitors' Lobby.

The Booth will be a space for Forum participants, including your entities representatives to let the international community know how their organization is supporting migrants. Participants will be asked questions related to the discussions at the Forum.

Exhibition IMRF 2022

It’s Only the End of the World is a dystopian photography exhibition that imagines a future where complacency against climate change triumphs over action. A fisherman attempts to fish in the desert.  A young child sits in front of discarded lumber, grim souvenirs of a once thriving forest. A woman stands looking into the distance, as the ocean rises around her.

All communications assets are available here.
