Greeting you from the cold weather in the city of Johannesburg!

Happy Africa Month! In this month's AEN newsletter, read about expanding engaged research and evidence-use around the world, and receive lessons on how digital technologies can help researchers better engage with policymakers and practitioners from the International Network for Advancing Science and Policy. The AEN continues to showcase and celebrate our evidence champions, immerse in reading the three recently published Africa Evidence Leadership Award (AELA 2022) winner blogs. …a new member! Welcome to Roger Angouono-Moke, a member of the coordination committee of the Francophone Evaluation Network from the Congolese Evaluation Association. Roger's decision to join the Africa Evidence Network was fueled by his conviction to contribute to poverty reduction in Africa.   • Experienced in system change/sustainability/NGOs? Apply for the Communications & Web Manager job position at Transformations Community. There is no specific closing date. 
  • Call for nominations for International Science Council Standing Committees on Science Planning, Outreach and Engagement; Freedom and Responsibility in Science, and Finance is now open. The call is open until 31 May 2022.

Expanding engaged research and evidence-use around the world

The Transforming Evidence Funders Network was established in 2020 to expand engaged research and evidence use around the world.

Two research funders, Angela Bednarek (director of the Evidence Project at The Pew Charitable Trusts) and Vivian Tseng (senior vice president at the William T. Grant Foundation) penned an article for Issues in Science and Technology. The authors posit that scientific research can be used to shape the policy and practice of society. They are now working to build a global network of donors that share this vision. Read more...
