NIHR ARC East of England co-produce a play exploring fear and stigma surrounding death 

As part of Dying Matters Awareness Week (2 - 6 May 2022), NIHR ARC East of England commissioned 'You'll be Fine', a play for voices exploring the Compassionate Communities approach to palliative and end of life care. It highlights the importance of close relationships to help us live well until we die, reducing the fear and stigma surrounding the end of life.

Self-monitoring blood pressure during pregnancy 
Research carried out with support from NIHR ARC Oxford and Thames Valley suggests that self-monitoring blood pressure during pregnancy doesn’t lead to it being detected early. Self-monitoring also doesn’t seem to help control blood pressure during pregnancy.

NIHR ARC Northwest London research has found the use of remote consulting for children doubled during lockdowns, helping reduce the impact of fewer face-to-face GP contacts.

Results from NIHR ARC Greater Manchester's CO-ASSIST study show that developing an online information platform for parents and carers of children living with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is the most feasible and helpful solution to supporting them.

The new Ageing Research Trialists Steering Committee is an international collaborative chaired by Professor Andrew Clegg, Theme Lead, Older People with Frailty theme at NIHR ARC Yorkshire and Humber. It has published its first paper, an individual participant data meta-analysis.

PhD opportunities / Six studentships for projects in healthy and active ageing

Application deadline: 25 May

These six PhD studentships are available through a partnership between the Dunhill Medical Trust, NIHR ARC Greater Manchester, the University of Manchester and the NIHR Older People and Frailty Policy Research Unit (PRU). They will provide funding for tuition fees and a stipend for three years.
