NZQA has redeveloped information for whānau about NCEA, the package they have developed is very easy to follow and encourages whānau involvement with their children. A lot of the content included in these workshops came from taiohi, their involvement has ensured the workshops are interactive and appeal to taiohi and mātua.

Digital Devices in our Community

Kia ora as part of our Resilience Strategy NKAI is looking at ways to ensure our tamariki and taiohi have access to a digital device. We are particularly targeting 1-1 Chromebooks for Tau 6-13 tauira. If you are interested in contributing to the development of this strategy please contact sophie@kuraaiwi.nz.

We're probably looking at 2-3 online meetings in total e hoa mā.

Te Manatu Hauora

VACCINATION PROMOTION

Tēnā koutou, te Manatu Hauora will be contacting kura and Tumuaki to discuss Health promotion projects, including promoting vaccinations and immunisation programmes.

Mā te Kōrero Ka Eke is a Health promotion programmes aimed at ensuring whānau and kura are informed and up to date about events and promotion of Hau ora events in your region. These may be pop up events, they may be regular, ongoing events, each region will have its own plan and strategy.

Regional Health Managers of Te Manatu Hauora will be contacting kura and Tumuaki to discuss Health promotion projects, including promoting vaccinations and immunisation programmes.

NKAI endorses the vaccination promotion and the Mā te Kōrero Ka Eke framework. However the decision about whether or not to engage with these programmes is up to each kura, whānau and Poumarumaru.

Hiki Wairua Fund &

Oranga Kaimahi Fund

He pūtea tautoko tēnei kua whakaritea hei taunaki i a tatou Kura. He pūtea tautoko mō ngā kura te hiki i te wairua me te oranga o ngā kaimahi.

This funding is available for our Kura to support the wellbeing of all kaimahi. Kura can make application for each funding stream once per year. One application for the Hiki Wairua Fund and one application for the Oranga Kaimahi Fund.

Tautāwhi Kaimahi Fund

He pūtea tautoko tēnei kua whakaritea hei taunaki i a tatou KAIMAHI puta noa i ngā Kura-ā-Iwi o Aotearoa. He pūtea tautoko mō te hunga e kimi āwhina ana i ētehi mātanga hinengaro i ētehi tohunga ātawhai rānei e hiki ai i o rātou kare ā roto e niwha ai o rātou ngākau.

Ngā Kura ā Iwi kaimahi o te motu are invited to make application for financial support to assist with KAIMAHI engagement of mentoring and counselling sessions with Registered Counsellors/Clinical Psychologists and Iwi/Hāpori Mentors. NKAI will pay costs for up to a maximum of six sessions.

Overview

TupuOra is one of twelve Te Ahu o te Reo Māori providers in Aotearoa who deliver across Te Tai Tokerau Te Moana a Toi, Tainui, Taranaki, Whanganui and Manawatū. More information on providers across Aotearoa can be viewed on Te Kauwhata Reo website. TupuOra has provided support and infrastructure for mātanga reo (te reo Māori experts) to support Aotearoa’s collective aspirations for improved te reo Māori proficiency, acquisition and use of te reo Māori within all kura, schools, kōhanga reo, and early childhood centres.

The mātanga reo for each of the regions under TupuOra include Kingi Kiriona, Paraone Gloyne, Moana-Aroha Henry and Teraania Ormsby, who are supported by a wider of team of Pūkenga (Tutors) including

Ngā Taumata o Te Ahu o te Reo Māori

There are seven levels of Te Ahu o te Reo Māori that tauira can complete. Each level is taught over the duration of a school term. The goal is for tauira to advance through each level of Te Ahu o te Reo Māori. TupuOra has a generic Level Guide outlining the content delivered at each level to assist tauira in deciding what level is appropriate.

Level 1 – Beginners (English mode of delivery)

Level 2 – Advanced Beginners (English mode of delivery with minimal use of te reo Māori)

Level 3 – Introductory Intermediate (English mode of delivery with increasing use of te reo Māori)

Level 4 – Intermediate (Bilingual mode of delivery)

• Access to the Mumu Reo™ digital portal containing te reo Māori videographic lessons with supporting digital PDF worksheets, covering the Ngā Momo Rerenga 10 language system designed by Pānia Papa and Leon Blake.

• $500 Participant Support Fund per participant will be paid to the Kura on successful completion of the programme.
