Thought for the Week
Monday, 9th May 2022
What comes to mind when you hear the word SAT's?

It may seem that the above image is rather blasé, but it isn't intended to be. It is intended as a reminder to take a few moments each morning this week before the school day starts to think, to reflect and to breathe.

This year is the first time in 2 years that SAT's have been taken in schools due to the pandemic, and many will feel the pressure of the task ahead.

However, as has been circulated for the last few years across social media platforms, we are reminded by the images below, that SAT's only measure a portion of what our children and young people learn within schools, and the skills and talents which they possess.
This also relates to the staff, teachers and School Leaders who support them. Children, young people and parents know that the staff within schools have worked tirelessly over the last few years to enable students to flourish and achieve the best.

At the DBE we know with certainty that this time of year is stressful, not only for those who are enabling and preparing SAT's, but also for those supporting and preparing students who are taking their GCSE's, A-Levels, end of year examinations and many more area's of school life.

For this week's thought for the week, I offer you a moment to breathe, a moment to reflect on all the amazing work yourself and surrounding staff have done over the last few years, a moment in time to remember how valued you are and a moment to remember that the DBE are thinking of you and praying for you at this busy time in the school year.

We thankyou for all the work you have done over the last few years that have led up to this moment in time and the work, effort and support you have done in enabling all students in their examinations and across their school life.
The Lord bless you
    and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you
    and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you
    and give you peace.
Numbers 6:24-26
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10
If you have a moment, spend some time listening to this music. Many will recognise it, but it is my prayer for you this week, that God will bless you and keep you and you will be upheld by Him as you journey through the summer term.
