Sunday Adult Formation in Easter Season: Sustaining Creation Care During Eco-Crisis
April 24 - May 22
9:30-10:15 in the Church library and on Zoom
This Sunday: 'Refugia' - 'little pockets of renewal'
Together we will view a short podcast titled “Little Pockets,” followed by discussion led by Christine Difeliciantonio, from the St. Thomas Creation Keepers. Biologists use the word 'refugia' to refer to small pockets of protected areas where life can regenerate after some form of catastrophe. The podcast further uses the term metaphorically to describe the role churches can play as 'refugia' for people after a catastrophe. We will consider both senses of 'refugia' in relation to the catastrophe of global warming. Coming sessions: May 15 - Brian Schwartz - The Interconnectedness of Life May 22 - GIPL Team - Advocating for Action
A note about Covid
As you heard on Sunday, some choir members tested positive for Covid last last week. Though the likelihood that anyone was exposed at rehearsal last Wednesday is slight, we still cancelled choir on Sunday out of an abundance of caution. A few others in the congregation recently tested positive as well, a sign that Covid is still with us. We'll continue the same precautions we've been using all season for dinner. For our final Wednesday gathering this week, children and youth will be outside for most of the night. Choir will rehearse in the nave (to be in a larger space).
