Career Development / Hiring Events & Opportunities:

• Virginia Career Works (VCW) hosts a weekly virtual job search prep workshop on Tuesdays, at 2pm. This week's topic on May 10 is Workforce Skills Employers Seek. Registration required. Their Thursday, May 12, 1pm, Employer of the Week is  Amazon. This would be a great way to learn about their hiring process. They have a wide variety of jobs especially technical, retail call center and warehouse positions. Registration required. 
• PLEASE note that this has been updated with a new email address and a Summer 2023 Intelligence Internship!  National Ground Intelligence Center (NGIC) is hosting an in-person hiring event on Thursday, May 12, 1-4pm at Northside Library, 705 W. Rio Road. Registration required by TODAY, Monday, May 9. They have five entry-level positions that they're recruiting for: IT Specialist (Network or InfoSec), Intelligence Specialist (all three pay $44,740-58,158), Electrical Engineer (bachelor's degree required) and an Intelligence Assistant Summer 2023 Internship ($32,283-$41,967). Email careers@pvcc.edu for the position descriptions. If you can't attend the event (which is NOT recommended due to the way their hiring happens), they will accept your resume/cover letter on May 12 between 11am-11:59pm by emailing usarmy.charlottesville.ngic.mbx-recruitment@army.mil WITH the subject heading of NGIC VEC Job Fair May 12, 2022 and the position number(s) you're interested in applying for.  All positions require U.S. Citizenship plus an ability to pass a background check.  Check out their Facebook group as well. 
• Old Dominion University is hosting an online career exploration series.  This Tuesday, May 10 at 12:30pm is about the World of Banking and Finance.  Registration required.
• Attention Nurses!  Hot 101.9 and Sentara are hosting a Nurses Night Out on Thursday, May 11, 5-8pm at the DoubleTree Hotel to thank you for your service!
• Attention computing technology job seekers who want to get help with their job search from other tech professionals - Shift/Enter is hosting a virtual Job Seekers' Workshop on Saturday, May 14, 9:30am-3pm.  For only $8, you can make great connections and get help with your resume, interviewing skills or just learn more about technology careers.  Advance registration required.
• Check out UVA's Earn While You Learn program if interested in becoming a Pharmacy Technician or Emergency Medical Technician (they're currently interviewing for these programs but will also be adding Certified Nurse Aide and Phlebotomist training/jobs as well).

• Goodwin William Staffing posted more jobs on CNN (a free listing resource for all to use!! This full-time Administrative Assistant position pays $16/hour. The other full-time positions include a Junior ($35-40,000) OR Senior ($45-55,000) Accounting Associate position. 
• Gaston & Wyatt seeks a full-time Bookkeeper / Accountant with paying $45-55,000.
• Robert Half Staffing seeks a Receptionist for a creative company in Charlottesville that would start around May 20th and pays $14.73-17.05
• UVA's Department of Chemistry is looking to hire a Graduate Program Coordinator and Departmental Administrative Assistant paying $19.23-$24.04/hour
• Room to Discover is seeking a skilled full-time administrative assistant who will keep them organized and promote operational efficiency as they grow. This position will pay $35-45,000. They're also hiring a CoFounder and offering up to $65K.

• The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (in Ruckersville) seeks a full-time Engineering Technician for their Crash Dummy Lab.  This would be a FUN job for those interested in electronics or electrical engineering.
• Networking Technologies + Support (NTS) has two full-time Charlottesville positions at UVA Medical Center - IT Security Analyst and Desktop Support / PC Technician.  This is a great way to get your foot in the door at UVA. Plus they have positions elsewhere in Virginia if you're looking to move.
• Crutchfield is hiring for multiple positions: Technical Support (starts at $17.20/hour), AV Technician Apprentice ($17/hour), AV Systems Integrator ($22.25/hour), Car Stereo or Home AV Installer, Products Return Tester ($12.50-$15.35/hour) and more!  Most with $500 hiring bonuses.  
• Biocore seeks a full-time IT Specialist. A bachelor's degree is not required; they reached out to PVCC with this opportunity.
• Charlottesville's Central Library seeks a full-time Technical Services Specialist paying $16.45 to $21.39/hour, and requires a bachelor's degree OR experience. Apply by 5/27.
• Verizon seeks a full-time Retail Sales Rep that can pay $43-50,000 (commission based).  This is a great entry-level tech job with good on-the-job training.
• McKim & Creed has a full-time Survey Instrument Technician opening here in Charlottesville and a number of other states. Must be interested in and/or have GPS technology experience. 
• Buffalo Air Handling (in Amherst) seeks a full-time CAD Designer paying $50,000 plus overtime. Please email resume along with cover letter to HR@buffaloair.com 

• Goodwin William Staffing posted more jobs on CNN (a free listing resource for all to use):  a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician ($14-15/hour), a Process Specialist ($19/hour/day or $21/hour/night manufacturing position), a Custodial Maintenance position ($14-15/hour), and a 3rd Shift Machine Operator position in Orange ($14-15/hour). 
• Alloy Architecture and Construction is seeking a full-time Carpenter paying $20-30/hour. If interested, email info@alloyworkshop.com.
• Crutchfield is hiring for multiple positions:  Wiring Specialist / Inventory Handler ($15/hour + monthly incentives), Inventory Handler ($13/hour + monthly incentives). $500 hiring bonus!
• Eastwood Farm and Winery is seeking line cooks/prep cooks, a sous chef, and tasting room associates. Learn more about the available positions and how to apply by visiting their website.
• Green House (in Crozet) is paying $14/hour + tips for this part-time Barista / Kitchen Staff opening. They posted other part-time Kitchen Staff positions as well. Check them out on CNN!
• Farmington Country Club is paying Cooks to try them out even before applying for a position!  To set up, email Chef Michael Matarazzo at mmatarazzo@fccva.com. 
• GRN Burger and Citizen Burger are in need of some cooks to help fill out their staff. The pay is $15/hour + tips (about $17/hour). You get a free staff meal and the shifts are 5 or 6 hours each. Part time or full time is welcome to apply at the Citizen Burger located in the Dairy Market. They also have free parking for employees.
