JOSE VICENTE RECOMMENDS
BARTON ORCHARD IN POUGHQUAG, NY

My name is Jose Vicente. I’m from New York and I started at the Consulate General in June of 2021 as the IT System Administrator. A beautiful place that I would recommend to any Swiss visiting New York is Barton Orchard in Poughquag, NY. If you need a break from the bustling city, visiting this farm is the perfect escape and it may even remind you of the Swiss countryside. My family and I have made it a yearly tradition to go to Barton Orchard every fall to pick our own apples, peaches, and vegetables. You can eat the apples right off the trees and taste-test them before deciding which type you want to take home. Barton also offers many activities for children. There’s a petting zoo, hay rides, and a fun park. Pick up a homemade ice cream sundae or fresh baked apple cider donuts from the market and sit down on the big lawn to enjoy the live music. The adults can take a break and stop by the Tap Room for a great selection of beer, wine, and cider. The colorful foliage will make the 1 ½ hour drive from NYC pass by quickly as you enjoy all that the Hudson Valley has to offer.
