Welcome to Oh Scrap! from Diane at Stash Bandit:
Tips and tricks for better scrappy quilts!
Today's scrappy tip is simple but significant.
If you're working with small patches, you can use allll the fabrics together. My Framework quilt, above, has every imaginable type of print: reproduction, novelty, holiday, batik and many more.
It works because the patches are cut 1-1/2" x 2-1/2". My theory is that the little patches give your eye many opportunities to see and understand the design.
Brick by Brick, designed and made by Diane Harris
Brick by Brick, above, is similar in this way: Every conceivable kind of fabric was used. I simply paired a dark brick with a lighter brick and then rotated every other pair.
The patches were cut 2-1/2" x 4-1/2", which is about the largest I think you can use for a quilt with all the fabrics together. Any larger and you'll need something to serve as "glue." That's a post for another day.

And my favorite, the big pineapple Welcome quilt. This quilt is easy and fast, and it has the hint of hospitality wherever you use it. Find the pattern for Welcome right here.
I am looking forward to a new opportunity next month. I'll be giving my most popular trunk show at Mangelsen's in Omaha, Nebraska. If you're within driving distance, I'd love to see you there. Tickets are $15 and include a discount coupon to use in the store. Their quilting fabrics are amazing! Register online. 😊
