The HDR had an amazing time earlier this week attending Main Street America's Main Street Now Conference in Richmond, VA! Not only were we able to network with other Main Street programs across the nation, but we are coming back with a bunch of new ideas and inspiration for our community.
It's been a busy last few days in our office with travel, preparing for our big fundraising bash, and coordinating our mega raffle. We appreciate your patience (and forgiveness of any typos in this newsletter issue).

Downtown Dinner Party has officially sold out, but we are still adding to our waitlist in the case that ticketholders are no longer able to attend and have open volunteer slots for set up, cocktail passing, bussing/running, and clean-up (that comes with free food and drink!).

Language of Love Sculpture Installation Celebration

- Townie Summer is today at 5 PM at Pale Fire! Enjoy beer, live music, and food. Plus, bring your own pint glass and get $.25 off each beer!
- Brother's Annual May Music Festival is May 21 from 12 - 10 PM. This free event features locally crafted music, food, and of course beer, along with a fundraiser for Anicira and Cat's Cradle.
- Great.full Goods is hosting a journaling workshop on June 2 from 7 - 8:30 PM. Participants may bring their own journal and receive a selenite healing wand/crystal and food + drink with their ticker or purchase a full package which also includes a new journal and seeded pencils. Learn more here.

- Happy 10-Year(+1) Anniversary to The Mark-It who is clebrating with a bash on June 3 at 5 PM! Also, happy 5-Year Anniversary to Rocktown Kitchen and Agora Downtown Market! Make sure to stop by Agora on their birthday celebration on June 4 for music, giveaways, and pop-up vendors.
- Valley Playhouse is excited to announce that they will be holding open auditions for the classic comedy Arsenic and Old Lace by Joseph Kesselring on May 25 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at the Harrisonburg Homes Team offices. Roles for 14 performers, 11 males, and 3 females, ages 14 +, performances July 28 - 31 and August 4 – 7, 2022 at Court Square Theater. Learn more and fill out the audition form here.
- Make sure you check the hours of your favorite downtown destinations as many are transitioning to summer hours! Bella Gelato, for example, is now open at 8:30 AM every morning for your coffee and pastry fix. El Paisano is now closed on Mondays but is open 6 AM - 9 PM every other day.
