If you missed the last issue, I urged marketers to think more about how our audience will experience our content.

I met up with good friend Rich Schwerin on Cinco de Mayo:

During our wide-ranging chat over tacos, the topic of podcasts came up.

While I’ve been religiously listening to podcasts for years, Rich recently hopped on the bandwagon.

Rich writes:

So, I'm a late bloomer and late to the podcast scene--I really didn't take to it until last winter--before that I was just overwhelmed by too many choices in podcast land.

Like tens of thousands. Probably more. Anyway, all it took was my wife recommending the Brene Brown podcast and that led to many others.

Here are Rich’s three favorite podcasts:

1️⃣ Rich Roll

Vegan ultra-endurance athlete Rich Roll interviews experts--many of whom have their own podcasts--on a variety of topics from health, fitness, and nutrition, to science, business, art and beyond.

2️⃣ Daniel and Jorge Explain the Universe

CERN particle physicist and UCI prof Daniel Whiteson and popular online cartoonist & Stanford robotics Ph.D. Jorge Cham answer profound, existential questions in an entertaining way.

3️⃣ Metaphysical Milkshake

Actor Rainn Wilson (The Office) and author Reza Aslan search for the meaning of life, with lots of gee-I-never-thought-of-that perspectives, fascinating guests, and scintillating topics.

According to Rich:

The one thing all 3 podcasts have in common? They've led me to other podcasts and books from their guests. Especially Rich Roll. So many great guests, fascinating topics.

Around the Corner
(Cont'd)

Here are my three favorites.

1️⃣ The Daily (from The New York Times)

“Twenty minutes a day, five days a week, hosted by Michael Barbaro and Sabrina Tavernise and powered by New York Times journalism.”

This podcast keeps me current on what’s happening in the world. I'm also a big fan of their sophisticated audio editing techniques.

2️⃣ Rockstar CMO

Does the world need another f'in' marketing podcast? No, not after you listen to this one. Good friend Ian Truscott is the host.

Jeff Clark and Robert Rose are regular guests. Each week, I get to “meet” a marketer with interesting thoughts who’s doing interesting things.

3️⃣ This Old Marketing

“Joe Pulizzi and Robert Rose cover the week of media, marketing, content marketing and digital content news.”

I love the marketing insights, the “rants and raves,” the debates on whether Apple should acquire Disney and the impassioned discussions about the Browns and the Cowboys.

When I listen to podcasts:

When I’m washing the dishes and when I’m out on a long walk.

What are your favorite podcasts?

-Dennis.

How The Promise of Web 3.0 Is Closest to Content Marketing

Presenter: Robert Rose, Founder and Chief Troublemaker, The Content Advisory.

Tired of talking about NFTs yet? Well, it’s probably not going away.

But even more pointedly – how will the overarching ideas of Web 3.0, like de-centralization, blockchain, and ownership of media affect the way we market our products and services?

As it turns out, it will probably resemble content marketing much more than it will traditional marketing.

Let’s talk about the trends in Web 3.0, and some of the implications for content strategy, content marketing, and how we engage our audiences for marketing purposes.

Date:
May 19, 2022, 12 to 1pm PT

Twitter Corner
In each newsletter, I recommend a Twitter user to follow.

This week, I recommend Rich Schwerin (@Greencognito).

Rich is Senior Content Strategist, Content Operations and Measurement at Autodesk.

He’s a San Francisco Giants superfan who tends to spend his weekends outdoors.

I tell Rich that he does more exercise in one weekend than I do all year.

Earlier this year, Rich did an excellent talk at the Bay Area Content Marketing Meetup.

Watch the video for a content measurement framework from Rich.

Finally, here’s text you can copy and paste to tweet to Rich:

“Hey, @Greencognito. Read your list of favorite podcasts in Content Corner. My favorite podcast is [PODCAST].”
