      MSSRF E-NEWSLETTER

Issue 114. May 2022

The passing of Mrs Mina Swaminathan on March 14 is an irreparable loss. Her work laid the foundations for important welfare programmes, including Integrated Child Development Services in India. She was a multi-faceted person, greatly missed by many in personal circles, and professionally.
Messages poured in from all quarters -- social media and news articles were several. Many eminent visitors came to pay their last respects to the departed soul and offer condolences to her family. At M S Swaminathan Research Foundation, a sombre meeting was held to reminisce the grand personality - the organisation's Distinguished Chair of Gender and Development, and a tree was planted in remembrance of her life. To honour her, an all-night Karna Moksham was performed on April 5 by the Kattikkuttu Sangam in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu.
MSSRF is eternally grateful for her role and contribution towards gender equality, child development and women empowerment. Please read our press release.
