Join us this Saturday for our first annual Author Showcase and Book Festival

Dear friend:

We’ve been having so much fun preparing for our first annual Author Showcase and Book Festival for Women Authors this Saturday, May 14, 2022. This free one-day event will be open to the public and will be staged outdoors right on our front lawn. We will have authors reading in two different locations, a children's hour, and tours of the OCEANS Exhibition indoors. Join us as we celebrate the voices of diverse female authors on the First Coast. Below are all the details:

  • Children’s hour will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

WE’RE IN THE NEWS...AGAIN!

First Coast Living Highlights Festival

After an interview with Melanie Lawson (WJXT) last week, I was a little less nervous to talk with Jordan Wilkerson (First Coast Living), and she made it easy. The segment ran Monday and you can watch it here!  Plus you can hear us on Wednesday morning at 9 on First Coast Connect with Melissa Ross (WJCT), and watch us the same day on River City Live with Rance Adams at 11 am. We’re going to enjoy our brief moment in the sun here! But more importantly...come on out for the book festival and let’s all have a good time.—JW
Jordan Wilkerson was a pleasure to talk to. Check out the video HERE.

The Last Word

“We need to read women writers. We need their perspectives.... And we need to pay attention to further intersectionalism in our reading list. Are we reading women writers of color? queer women writers? those with a wide range of gender identities and expression? women writers of different income spectrums and with different bodily shapes and abilities? We need these perspectives in order to create a world that allows space for everyone, a world where having diverse perspectives is the norm rather than the exception. In these perspectives, we offer an opportunity for all those part of our community to be honored in their wholeness.
—Lisa O’Neill, in Why We Must Read Women Writers To Change the World
