Adopt-A-Highway

Saturday, May 14th at 9:00 AM
AND
Saturday, June 11th at 9:00 AM

WCPC is proud to be a part of the Adopt-A-Highway litter cleanup (part of a PennDOT program) along approximately one-mile of Route 19 (from Perry Highway Lutheran Church to NASH).

We meet at the church at 9 AM, and the cleanup usually takes about 60-90 minutes. Children age 10 or older, accompanied by an adult, are welcome to join us. We do this 3-4 times a year (from April to October) to help take care of our neighborhood and serve our community. We'd love to have you join in the fun!

Gloves, stylish neon worker vests, and trash bags will be provided.

New Members' Class

Have you been a member of WCPC for a long time, but are
interested in learning more about what that actually means?

Have you been attending WCPC regularly (online or in person), and are interested
in learning more about becoming a member of the church community?

Well you are in luck!

Tyler will be leading a two-part Membership Class over Sundays, May 15 & May 22, for those interested in leaning more about what it means to be Presbyterian, what it means to be a member of Wexford Community Presbyterian Church, and how we can live that out together.  The class will meet via Zoom from 6pm to 7pm Eastern on those Sundays, discussing elements of theology and mission, but also with plenty of time for questions and conversation.  The hope is to be informative and enjoyable and to help understand what it means to be part of the church community.

We will use this book, The Presbyterian Handbook, as a jumping off point and resource.  You can get it prior to the class on Kindle or pick it up used.  It’s thoroughly readable and quite enjoyable, but also very informative.

Open to all who would like to learn more about WCPC, whether you are interested in joining or if you have been a lifelong member!

If you are interested in the class, please email the office so we can get you the Zoom link :)

Nomination Season

Dear Wexford CPC Members,

I pray you are enjoying Holy Week and are preparing for the celebration of Christ’s resurrection on Sunday.

I am writing to prepare the congregation’s hearts and minds for Nomination season to the Board of Session and Board of Deacons at WCPC. It is the time of year when we ask our active members to consider a call from God to service and leadership for our congregation, in the form of ordination and installation of Elders and Deacons. This is an essential function of our congregation, to care for our congregation spiritually and relationally (the Deacons), and to act and rule with guidance from the Holy Spirit (the Elders). These roles ensure the longevity of a healthy, caring, and Christ-centered congregation at WCPC and we hope that you will consider a role if called.

If you have been looking for a way to utilize your God-given gifts and talents in the church, this may be a great opportunity! Please pray and discern about a call to these leadership opportunities.

You may receive an email from me (Rachel Stalker) later this month, regarding a call to ministry in one of these roles. I ask that you receive this message with grace and truly discern a call to these positions. If this message calls you to service, please feel free to reach out!

In Christ,

Rachel Stalker

Note from Jason Dauer

Dear Wexford Presbyterian Community,

As many of you know, we are entering our last week together. May 12th will be my final day with you as your Office and Communications Coordinator.
[Update: My last date is now May 18th.]

I have deeply enjoyed our time together, but I hope to continue to do ministry alongside you as neighbors in Pittsburgh. While working at WCPC, I have also been working to form a new faith community in the PC(USA)’s 1001 New Worshiping Community initiative. The reason for my departure is that I will be pursuing this calling full-time and hope to be ordained this summer!

The community I have been forming is called Stonewall Abbey. Since 2020, we have gathered in parks as a small group of folks who have been hurt by churches. We are a refuge for spiritual wanderers, outcasts, and orphans on their journeys of faith. Stonewall Abbey is a home for some, and it is a resting and resourcing space for others. We are a “way station” for travelers to “stop in and rest and receive nourishment for their bodies and souls before continuing on their journey." Specifically, we are a space for LGBTQ Christians to come together for fellowship.

Please pray for our community, as we are still in the early stages of doing this work together, but we know this ministry is deeply needed in our city.

As we part ways, please feel free to contact me with any questions and remain in touch after! Again, thank you for the opportunity to serve this wonderful congregation and partner in what God is doing in Wexford.

In Christ,

Jason Dauer

Deacon Help & Prayer Requests
The Deacons are here to help!

Are you in a Care Zone? Not know what a Care Zone is? Care Zones are our way at WCPC of making sure everyone is cared for and listened to. Our Deacons are a fantastic team. Care Zones are listed on your profile in Breezeor you can click this link.

Deacons seek "compassion, witness, and service, sharing in the redeeming love of Jesus Christ for the poor, the hungry, the sick, the lost, the friendless, the oppressed, those burdened by unjust policies or structures, or anyone in distress" (Book of Order, G-2.0201).

If you cannot connect with your deacon, email the church by clicking here.

Do you have a prayer request? Click here to email the prayer chain
(email goes directly to the full prayer chain list)
Ways to Support the Ministry of WCPC
WCPC continues to minister to this congregation and surrounding community in ways that are new and different.  We are committed to offering uninterrupted ministry, including in-person and/or online worship services to meet the needs of our faith community in a safe and caring manner.  The ongoing financial support of the members and friends of this congregation is vital to sustaining this ministry and providing care not only now, but also in the future.  Please help us to keep this ministry alive and vibrant!

If you are unable to attend an in-person worship service, our online giving option allows you to set the amount & frequency of your offering, designate specific funds (General Fund, Fan the Flame, Missions), and use credit/debit card or PayPal. Online donations are automatically included in your giving statement.  You can also mail checks to the church office (10645 Perry Hwy, Wexford, PA, 15090).

Thank you so much for your continued partnership and support of what God is doing through WCPC!

What is Breeze?

Breeze Church Management Software (“Breeze”) is a program we have used for years, but we had been using internally for office and financial records. It is used by 9,000+ churches to maintain church member information, send emails and text messages, create sign-up forms, generate annual giving reports, and more!

Need Help? Please reach out to Jason, our office coordinator, if you have any questions or need assistance signing up! (office@wexfordcpc.org; 724-935-5650)
Submit a "Window" Request
Do you have something you'd like to include in the weekly email? Is it a church event, mission opportunity, or life update? Please email the short blurb to Jason, our Office and Communitcations Coordinator, no later than Thursdays at 9 AM.

We cannot assure that any requests after this time will make it into the weekly email, but it will be considered for the following week. We try to only send out the Window and the link on Sundays to the Online Service. All addtional emails are reserved for crucial, time-sensitive announcements (i.e. church being canceled due to weather conditions, loss of life).

Thank you for your patience and understanding!
